750mL bottle from JMRSN. Thanks! Split 3 ways. A: Opaque brown with a thin creme head. Medium legs. Kind of muddy, but passable. N: Grape, cherry, and a touch of vinegar. Some leather like a good pinot noir. Raspberries and more sour pie cherries. The dark fruits dominate, much like a good Flanders Red. T: Not nearly as good as the nose. Moderately sour, and very leathery. Minor amounts of cherry. Raspberry and marionberry. Sour grapes. Plenty of earth. Very vinous, and the oak is well integrated. M: A bit on the heavier side, but within range. The beer expands more like a stout. O: A very worthy beer if you like dark sours. Has a nice complexity, but after having FF this does fall a bit short. Still recommended if you can get it, though.

750ml bottle I received in a trade from a BA but I can’t remember who, thanks! When I popped the cap there was a very icky brown sediment all around the neck but I soldiered on. Dark brown color, decent head, smells a little wild and sour. The taste was like an oud bruin, sour brown ale. Overall not a bad beer but not one I’d visit a second time but I was glad for the opportunity. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-14-2011 19:13:4

Pours a muddy brown with no head. Aroma of malty vinegar. Taste is vinegar, sour and malty, acidic and flavorful. Really cool. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks to Brad for sharing this at his tasting on Saturday! This beer pours a murky, hazy brown color with a nice sized head and good lacing. Immediately upon my first sniff, I can tell that there is a lot going on. Big aromas of oak and tannins. The taste was much more sour than the aroma would indicate. Wine, oak, and brettanomyces create a very complex and enjoyable taste. There is a mild vinegar note in the finish, but given how sour this beer tastes, that is to be expected. I’d happily drink this again.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 A: Deep, muddy red-brown body. Transparent around the edges when held to the light. Thin dirty white head. Moderate retention. Nice skim. No lacing. Quite a bit of gunk in the second glass despite a careful pour. S: Vinegar, dark fruits, funky yeast, oak, vanilla, red wine. Complex, pungent and the different notes are seamlessly integrated. T: A bit of a fall off here. Very acidic and tart. Dark fruits like cherries and raisins. Vanilla, oak, and general funkyness. Doesn’t quite blend together harmoniously. Perhaps some age will fix these minor issues. M: A bit thin. The tartness does a good job of masking the thin body at first, but eventually it just can’t do it anymore. Moderate carbonation. Lingering acidic finish. O: Between the thin feel, and powerful acidic/tart blast, this was a slow drinker... even for me.

Pours a murkey brown with no real head formation. The aroma is slightly tart with cherries coming through slightly. A nice funky earthy quality in the nose with a tinge of oak. The taste is very similar to the aroma with the cherries giving this a nice complexity under a layer of funk and sour. Slight lip pucker in the finish, so not quite as sour as I prefer.

The beer pours a dark brown with lots of nice carbonation, light tan, good retention and lacing. The aroma is light giving off notes mainly of light tartness, not much there. The taste is the same, light tart but pretty boring. There is a little oak here, not much sweetness. The feel and drinkability are ok. This is ok, but nothing more than you’re run of the mill wild.

Bottle shared by pepsican. Thanks! Bottled 2/10. Poured a hazy, tawny orange color. The head was thick and tan. Smelled of red wine vinegar and tart red fruits. Light to medium bodied and dry. Lightly acidic with oak, unripe cherry, and subdued brown sugar notes.

(Draught) Pours a cloudy amber-brown body with a spare off-white head. Aroma of vinegar, horseblanket, vinous, cheese, and cherries. Flavor of herbs, earth, vinegar, vinous, caramel, and raisins with a dry oak finish.
