Pouring at the Saturday afternoon session of EBF. Pours a deep brown with a thin beige head. Soft sweet acid, dark fruit. Subtle and slow. Tart and tannic notes with lingering acid. Bright but mellow. Lingering tartness. Very nice, especially for such a big ABV. Once you’re looking for it, you can definitely get the notes of Rosso in here.

Bottle shared by Jimmie. Poured a deepm dark blackish/brown with a smaller light beige head. Aroma is earthy with vinegar sourness along with some rotting dark fruit. Medium bodied with softer carbonation and a lingering sour aftertaste. Flavor is better then the aroma with loads of sourness, dark fruit and vinegar, along with a hint of red wine and lots of earthiness. Solid sour again from the Captain.

Bottle at Brewfest in Middletown @ Brians Backyard BBQ. Dark Pour with little carbonation. Aroma and flavor have light acidity, good sourness, citrus, fruity, with some wood and faint spice. Lends itself well to this sour. Very well balanced. Easy drinking too, not too puckering, ends with sweet sour grapes and cherry.

375 ml bottle from a recent trade and shared with friends. Sweet! Pours a rich brownish dark hue, healthy haze and murkiness, a touch of a lighter brown on the edges. Frothy tannish head dies to a decent ring, small lacing. Aromas are a rich melange of red wine grapes, berries, wet oak. Touches of lactic acidity, thicker with berries and crisp toffee, caramel, and toast. Some biscuit. Really rich berry and touches of brett nose. Some strawberry. Wow. Initial is medium bodied, offering elderberry, some mellow dryness, oranges and dry oak. Touches of gentle lactic acidity meet brett, some mellow toffee, toast, and lactic acidity. Touches of red wine, strawberry on the nose and in body. Mellow yogurt into the middle, oak, gentle brett, slick backend. A lot going on here, aided by the thicker malts as the wild yeast elements and barrel character take hold. I don’t actually love Nor Easter, but this beer is quite nice and complex. Enjoyable dark sour, well done here. Great character, flavors, balance, and complexity with some elements from the base still coming through. Well done, Captain Lawrence.. You still got it.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours deep brown with no head to speak of. Nose is funky goodness. Tastes nicely sour, of oak, cherry, raspberry, Chardonnay grapes, and some cocoa powder. Lingering finish. Ifvu focus u can pick out both the winter warmer and rosso, fun brew I didn’t know existed until I purchased

12.7oz bottle bottled in 2011 written on the label. pour has a dark brown color with a ring of tan head on the glass. aroma has dark malts, grapes, medium acidity, and some dark fruit funk. mouth feel is light and there is carbonation but it is a bit light. flavor is medium on the acidity, dark malts in such a sour, dry grape, oak, sour cherry, dark fruit, and it finishes dry with a good twang. it is interesting how the combination of the dark beer and the grapes comes out quite sour and there is definately some rosso
flavors from the barrel.

Sampled at EBF Saturday afternoon.
Puckering mouthfeel, Dark Tart lactic with a hint of sweetness. My notes are a bit sloppy by this point, but I remember really enjoying this one.
