COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is the result of a lot of patience and a lot of experimentation. It took us over 4 years to build up a reserve of barrel aged beers from which to pull from to create the beer you hold in your hands. A blend of several barrels ranging in age from 2 to 3 years old. The resulting beer is tart, oaky and very unique.

Editors note: 750ml bottle, and having a label marked FO/BB that states it was bottled 2/10.
Released in April 2011, 1200 bottles.

Pours a hazy ruby/amber with a thin tan head. Aroma has mild oak and tart cherry...mild oak...very nice but a hint of generic. Flavor has nice mildly tart cherry...very vinous...mild oak mouthfeel is light and the finish is oaky and vinous with faint cherry.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2012 Barrel Select Batch 1 (FO/BB), bottled 2/2010. Oaky aroma is ripe with barrel character and soured yeast. Funky, fruity, packed with flavor. French oak is the star here, however, taking this superb brew into the stratosphere with the addition of white wine notes. Highly acetic, puckering sourness; aftertaste reminds me of sour gummy worms. Definitely an American-style sour, and one of the very best examples of the style. Need MOAR!

Pours a clean dark garnet brown with a light tan head. Very vinous and acidic nose, red wine and some charred wood and dried fruit. Acetic with some cherry skins and a moderately sharp palate.

Bottle at Craft Beer Co tasting, many thanks to Mike. It pours cloudy deep amber-brown, with pretty much no head. The nose is lightly acidic, acetone, marzipan, coconut, wood, almond and light sulphur. The taste is medium acidity, balsamic, damp wood, earth, zippy lemon, dark fruit, raisin, mouth-puckering tartness and some underlying sweetness, with a tart, somewhat acidic finish. Medium body and prickly carbonation. Well balanced. Rather enjoyable all-round.

Bottle shared at Craft Beer Co., London, thanks to Mike! Pours cloudy, ruby-brown with a creamy, off-white head. Big tangy wood nose, some vinegar. Good,s turdy sour flavor, lots of wet wood, prunes, nice acidic burn, medium sweetness, other tangy fruits. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate sour burn finish, further tangy wood notes, light dryness, tart fruits, berries. Good balance. Nice.

Had in a bottle very strong oak aged flavor and with very fruity notes in the aftertaste. Not my favorite offering from the Captain
