COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is the result of a lot of patience and a lot of experimentation. It took us over 4 years to build up a reserve of barrel aged beers from which to pull from to create the beer you hold in your hands. A blend of several barrels ranging in age from 2 to 3 years old. The resulting beer is tart, oaky and very unique.

Thanks Eric for sending this my way! A- Body is a quite murky, foggy, and translucent medium red/brown hue. Cloudiness is dynamic. Pours with a 1-2 finger foamy head which fades to about 1 finger and leaves some lacing behind in the glass. S-Sharp acidic sourness upfront. Behind it is some notes of oak, vanilla, sweetness, and a hint of vinegar. T- Lots of lip-puckering acidic tartness upfront-this fades a lot of the finish but still tends to mask the rest of the flavor profile. Which has a hint of dusty oak upfront as well as a hint of vanilla and what seems like powdered sugar in the back of the palate. P- Medium to high tingly carbonation and body that is light and just a bit thin. O-ok. This borders on sour bomb...and that’s what I love about it. Its not as complex as other well made sours but the acidic tartness makes its presence known. I really enjoyed this one and wish it wasn’t such a limited release. Another great brew by CL. Bottle from mikey711. Barrel FO/BB. Bottled 2/10. Deep amber-brown color and pours with a nice fluffy head. Sour funk in the aroma with lots of fresh juicy cherries, tart apples, and notes of oak. Whoa, awesome nose. The fruit flavors are tart but also soft and sweet giving this a real nice blend. The same flavors from the aroma are picked up in the flavor; wild fresh cherries and sour green apples. Very authentic tasting. Oak barrel notes are definitely there and a bit vinous as well. Slightly dry in the finish with lots of lingering fruit. This is terrific stuff! It’s far from the most intense sour I’ve had but it was pure pleasure to drink. My first Captain Lawrence beer and I’m very much impressed.

25oz bottle. Tasted just after the release last year. Looks fantastic red/brown darker hue, white head, great lacing. Aromas are potent, funk/tart/sour notes, cherry, ripe plum, woody, earthy. Amazing palate, sour fruit, with an acidic finish. This will get better over time, I’m happy to have 5 more where that came from.

Pours a golden amber with a nice off white head and a decent amount of lacing. Smells nice and musty with quite a bit of sourness. Stone fruits come through, but mostly straight sourness. Some acetic character. Taste of red grapes, currants, and some sour peaches. Medium body with good carbonation. Good drinkability overall; really looking forward to seeing how this one develops. Hazy orange with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of brett, leather, vanilla, wood, citrus, and bacteria. Taste of citrus, some fruity sweetness, vanilla, brett, wood, and a sour finish. Thanks for sharing Jay!

Bottle. Pours a pretty dark brown, a bit of a reddish glow in the light, with a soapy tan head. Nose is classic Captain Lawrence sour -- wet wood, soft brett, with some very pleasant cherry tones. Dry and soft in the mouth. Beautiful dry palate. Flavor comes mostly in the back palate with that dank wet wood, sour cherries, brett. Dry and acidic finish. This is really well-balanced, soft, very refined. Actually really good, a lot better than I was expecting, a bit better than Rosso e Marrone with the soft, prickly mouthfeel and really expressive dry palate.

Bottle shared the 2010 jimmack invitational. Poured a murky brown body with a super small foamy beige head. Aroma was great!!! Notes of super sourness, wood, lemon, tart cherries, and more sourness. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a lingering sour finish. Flavors of total sour domination, wood, cherry, funk, and lemons. One of the best sours I have ever had.
