4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Received this one from a trade a couple years ago. Rediscovered it way back in the pantry. Yes, Christmas came early this year. Faint nose of plump figs, november spices, agave nectar, molasses, smoked peppers, and apricot jam. Taste is a delicate-to-moderate sour that lingers throughout the mouthfeel. Resilient head to the last drop. I wish there was more alcohol to it so I could feel all warm inside. A great fall brew. 18102012, DG.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Traded bottle of unknown vintage but at least a few years. Pour like a dark tea with bubbly carbonation but no real head. Aroma reminds me of a slightly tart dubbel. Flavor has some light coffee and a tart sourness. Quick finish with a little sweetness too. Fine.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml bottle: This one pours a ruby tinged darker amber color. There was a small light tan head that didn’t linger long. The nose is very nose. Spicy, yeasty, some malts, honey, dark fruits. The taste is very good. Some tart cherry, spices, malts, honey, other berries. There is a lot going on here for a 6% beer. Very nice!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
A - Pours a slightly hazy ruby-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades at a normal pace leaving behind some light lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet caramel malts, dark fruits, Belgian yeast, berries, jam, honey, and a touch of spices.
T - Starts off with a mix of sweet caramel malts with dark fruits, berries, and some light spices. Through the middle, some honey comes through with some more fruity jam, some Belgian yeast, and some more berry fruits. The finish is a mix of berries, caramel malts, Belgian yeast, honey, jam, and some spices.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and fruity finish.
D - Very drinkable. Lots of fruity flavors and honey, but the balance and complexity is spot on.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On cask at Birreria Paradiso in D.C.
A: Chestnut brown hue with a nice head and plenty of lace.
S: Jam, chestnuts, honey, Belgian yeast, raisins, plums, prunes, figs.
T: I have never tried this beer on a regular draft or from a bottle. I wonder how much the cask and warmer serving temperature had to do with the huge aromas and deep complexities I received from this beer. Everything listed in the aroma is very present in the taste. There’s a lot going on here. This is one of the most interesting beers I have had in a while.
M: As with many cask ales, this was incredibly smooth with very little carbonation.
D: Sweet and delicious. One glass was just right.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted on a random November Saturday in 2011 from a capped 750mL bottle obtained in a trade. Pours cloudy copper-orange with a thin tan head that leaves a bubbly collar of lace. The nose is pretty light, with strawberry, cranberry, and nutty, meaty chestnut. The flavor is lightly sour with some honey malt, chestnut, cranberry and strawberry. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long lightly sour cranberry and honeyed malt finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Received in trade from AlpineBryant, thanks for the opportunity!
Pours a deep, clear mahogany color with a decent tightly bubbled white head that shows minimal retention and lace. Smells of rich caramel, slightly tart aroma reminds me of lemons, fig and prune and maybe a hint of non descript nut. Taste is sugary, tart, and fruity. A lemony tart fruitiness pierces the tongue right up front. Caramel, brown sugar and bread come up next then a prune fig kind of thing mixes with the spicy yeast in the finish. Spirited level of carbonation, medium body, slick sweet mouthfeel. This was decent but the tartness was unexpected. Its possible I sat on this bottle too long.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours a dark garnite/brown, with medium clarity and frothy vanilla ice cream head. Nose- the belgian yeast is quite strong imparting a significant spiciness. Taste- its taken on off sour flavours along with fruit jam and dry finish. I’m thinking this has some level of infection to it as the flavour profile is nothing like what the description of the beer is. very strange stuff...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to Matt for sharing this bottle - dark amber pour with thick head. Very fruity with some nuttiness and berries, earthy and nuts and herbal. Mild tartness and acetic, toffee and bready malts. Finishes with some boozey heat. Decent.
