Clear brown body, white head. Supersweet chocolate and molasses aroma with noticeable maltiness. Very sweet and clear malt flavour. This is quite good "in style" beer. Bit dull though.

Draft. Pours deep amber with an off white head. Very light roasty aroma with some nutty dry sweetness. The flavor has a kind of empty toasty malty base, with some light nutty sweetness and light herbal hoppy notes. Decent.

Dark nut brown color, small off-white head. Nutty, caramelly aroma. Light bodied. Caramel, grassy hoppyness, pale maltyness. A bit bready too. Easy drinking brown ale.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2012 On tap at the Dutch, pours a lovely tan capped by a slight of white head. Clean boring nose. Taste starts with a bit of nut, a strange pepper develops as it warms. Ehhh. Rated via BeerBuddy

A smooth beer, with flavorful malts providing a nice caramel flavor. Pours with a thin head, and a pretty standard beer.

A - Pours an almost clear brown color with a touch of red mixed in and a finger of frothy off-white head atop. The head fades at a normal pace leaving behind some good lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of rich sweet caramel malt with a nice mix of nuttiness and some earthy hops. There is a bit of brown sugar and bready malt. T - Starts off with some rich sweet caramel and nutty malts with some earthy hops in the background. Through the middle, some brown sugar sweetness and bready malts come through. Finish is a mix of caramel and nutty malts with a nice backing of light earthy hops. M - Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a crisp sweet finish. D - Very drinkable. Very nice sessionable brown ale. The richness and the sweetness of the malt is nice and also well balanced by the other flavors.

Pours a dark chocolate brown color with a one finger light beige head that settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic streaks and spots of lace left behind. Slightly roasted chocolate malt aroma with hints of toffee, nut and caramel. There is also a faint earthy hop presence but the nose is dominated bythe sweeter malt notes. Fuller bodied than expected with a slight creamy texture and lots of sweet malt flavor. Slightly toasted with hints of cocoa, caramel, toffee and oatmeal before finishing with slightly bitter hop character. Well balanced, flavorful and easy to drink. This was a pleasant surprise.

Draught at Ulysses Folk House. Pours brown with a tan head. Very true to the UK style and not as hoppy as expected. Not spectacular but nice body.

Very clear light brown pour. Sweet, malty, brown sugar aromas. Pretty dull but very drinkable nonetheless. Brown ales aren’t my favorite style but I like this one.
