Think of a standard Kolsch, but add a reasonable amount of bodyfeel. Quite possibly the best example of this style I have tasted, would not be out of place in a brewery tap on the Heumarkt.

Aroma is yeast, grains and a hint of a hard to describe spiciness. The flavor is mildly sweet malts/grains and a dry and mildly hoppy finish.

12oz bottle. Rating #59. Clear medium yellow color. Grainy and a little spicy aroma. Mild bitterness, more grain and a nice little bite. Good stuff. (2379)

Pours a clear bright yellow. Tall frothy white head. The aroma is lemon, grassy, crackers, maybe a whiff of honey. Pretty full bodied for a Kolsch. Flavors of lemon, Noble hops, earthy, vegetal. The finish offers a lingering bitterness. One of my favorite summer styles from one of my favorite NY breweries.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 bhensonb (7581) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 2, 2012
Bottle from Half Time. Pours gold with a creamy/fizzy white head. Aroma is floral, maybe with a hint of pale malt. Med body. Flavor is floral, touch of citrus, somewhat bready. There’s more content to this than many Kolsches. Captain Lawrence doesn’t skimp. Finishes bready/citrus with a decent amount of bitter.

On draught. Biscuit malt on the nose, Sweet on the palate, some earthy character, smooth slick mouth feel, similar to a cream ale. Uninspiring.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 hainer (14) - New York, USA - APR 26, 2012
Quite strong for a Kolsch. Pours with frothy head and looks oddly red for this style of beer. Instead of light bitterness, there’s a touch of umami. Maybe a Kolsch in name alone? Overall, an interesting beer, but stylistically it feels in no man’s land.

some corn and fresh malt with wheat and root vegetable sweetened some. moderate body just a touch slick and frothy. bitterness kicks in with hardly any accompanying flavor in fact none. malty wheat finish sweet with perhaps some caramel.

12oz bottle served in a glass beer mug. Light German hop and sweet malt in the aroma. The beer is a clear yellow color with a white head that left a thin coat of lacing. Good balance of flavors, the beer is crisp and refreshing to drink. A fantastic summer time beer.
