3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Meant to share this with Matt, but I dropped it and lost half the bottle. This review is from the half I had to "force down" last night. When life hands you lemons (or half full bottles of fresh IPA)...Now I have to stop at Captain Lawrence again on my way home...shucks.
Anyhow...the beer is golden hued with over an inch of white head. The aroma offers fresh hops and pine. Smells nice. The flavor is certainly fresh, with nice resinous pine and hop notes with a subtle touch of citrus.
A slight alcohol burn / boozy finish, but nothing that really gets in the way.
Overall, I definitely enjoyed this beer, and would have it again.

Tap. Golden with small head. Big citrus hops and smooth finish. Alcohol well masked. Delicious. Captain Lawrence makes a lot of good beers, but this was my favorite by far.

Bottle at home.
This is a taste bomb!
The sweetness and bitterns combines perfectly.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Gianni - thanks! Pours clear yellow with a large white head. Aroma is light bitterness with a corse grain character. Taste is bitterness, pine, and a somewhat cloying sweet malt character. Smooth, coating mouthfeel. Disjointed, subpar IIPA.

1 Pint & something old time medicinal looking bottle sampled thx. to Kraddel. First things first, he received this as an extra & the package was stuck for some time so this is at least like 2-3 months old but going by smell & taste I feel like this is much, much older than that, like 1.5 to 2 yrs old maybe? I consider this beyond a shell of what it used be – however there is no BBF date on the bottle – I could make the argument that the brewery totally wanted me to drink this like that otherwise they would have put some kind of date on this, telling me not to drink this, this is no longer good. Lightly hazy amber with a creamy white head. Smell is sweet cereal / aged hop to me, sugar, light summer fruit, sticky, light malts & some oxidation but not very heavy, maybe this is younger than I thought. Taste is sweet aged hops, cereal, sugar, sweet malts, light oxidation, old spices, lightly floral in the back, sweet yeast, light cream. Slightly creamier body and lower carb. I seriously hope that this is not this breweries interpretation of what an IIPA should be.

Clear golden color with a white head. Aroma has notes of pineapple, citrus fruits, peach, biscuit, alcohol. Taste is oily soft and sweet with notes of lime peel, pine, peach. A little salty. Lingering dry fruity aftertaste with a bit of warming alcohol. Well balanced.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Solide imperial ipa.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A sticky pine aroma. A golden body with a light white head. An assertive oopy chaacter with notes of pine and hay. A bready malt character is in the background but not particularly substantial and leaves a bit to be desired. The beer starts up nicely but does not fully deliver .

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a deep gold with a thin but persistent white head. Aroma is citrusy and hoppy, with grapefruit, lemon, and grassy notes. Mouth feel is a little thick. Tastes floral, piney, with a faint hint of lemon and honey. Leaves a lingering bitterness. Very nice example of the style overall.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 ml. bottle poured in to a snifter. Light copper colour with an off-white, bubbly head. Fruity aroma with grapefruit, oranges, pine, caramel, lemon, mango and spices. Caramel malts. Taste is bitter. Medium to full body with an oily texture. Soapy. Soft carbonation. Good, long lasting bitter finish with grapefruit and pines, caramel malts. Not the most extreme DIPA, as far as hops goes but with a high drinkability and good balance. Recommended.
