Growler. Right from the brewery! This is my most favorite beer in the world. My ratings of other beer are metered from this beer.
Great pour, head and look. lots of flavor with a strong finish that keeps you wanting more! (Until you find yourself the next morning on the floor wit an empty glass in your hand!) You will LOVE it!
4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Powder_Beer (11) - Durango, Colorado, USA - JAN 8, 2011
Hoppy aroma, pretty fruity, but not too bitter. Appearance is definitely lacking. The color is more pale than amber, but the head is white, which leaves a nice lace. Medium sweet and bitter is light. This is a full body beer. A slick texture with soft carbonation. Overall this a very strong beer and was at one point my favorite beer.

(Bottle 19/2-2011) When drinking this beer you wonder when the captain will knock down the door and reclaim this great beer for his reserve. This is simple a fantastic imperial IPA.

I know I am rating this one really high, but it is such a nice thing to have an east coast DIPA taste this good. A really nice west coast version of an DIPA. taste is just what you’d expect, nice floral/citrus notes, not too "fat" of a taste and goes down unbelievably smooth. well done and i cant wait to take another sip.

Woah! Poured dark amber with off white head. Big aroma of hops and citrus. Big party of hop flavors in your mouth with hints of citrus. One of best IIPA I’ve ever had. Delicious and smooth.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 setauketone (10) - setauket, New York, USA - AUG 12, 2009
I tried this beer at Stony Brook Beverage from theor Growler Bar. This is an amaxing Imperial IPA. It was smooth as could be. Clear golden-orange color with a whitish head. Piney hop aroma along with sweet malt. Flavor is hops, citrus, and sweet caramel malt. Well-balanced with a medium-full, somewhat bready palate.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 SSKD814 (854) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2010
My first growler by mail!
A- Body is a crystal clear deep amber that pours with a large, slightly off-white foamy head. Head slowly subsides to one finger and leaves plenty of lacing behind in the glass.
S-Nose is nice, bright, and hoppy. Citrus (grapefruit) dominates the nose with a sweet malty backbone.
T-Juicy grapefruity hops flavor upfront with a sweet malt backbone, a hint of pine comes through for the finish as the malt fades and the citrus flavors intensify and a slight bitterness emerges. The bitterness disappears quickly along with everything else making one want the experience all over again.
P- Very low carbonation (only flaw...may be because of growler) and body filled with smooth oily hops. Very nice.
O- This is a VERY nice DIPA. Underrated, IMO. Its ranking as one of my favorites. The 8.00% is pretty much unnoticeable and I’m sure will sneak up on me fast as I try to write a paper. My first Captain Lawrence brew and I am looking forward to trying the other two I have in my possession now.
Serving type: growler
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 TheRealBastard (145) - The-No, California, USA - AUG 25, 2008
Tap at Captain Lawrence. This stuff is scary good. Best session beer on the planet. I debate between this and hopslam as my favorite DIPA’s. Pours foggy amber color with beautiful quarter in white head. It’s piney and juicy. Has a nice hoppy and fresh taste to it. Great summer slammer. This go down very easy, highly recommended double IPA. Slightly underated IMO.
4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - JAN 11, 2007
UPDATED: APR 4, 2010 2010-04-04, bottle, 8-4-9-5-18=44 Colden bright color; nice perlage, very small bubbles; medium sized head. The aroma is intense, with strong toffee; the hops are very piney, but also with a touch of vanilla and cookies. Excellent toffee flavor, with some residual sugars, but the body is quite lean; there is some cake flavor too; very strong bitterness, fresh hopping, creamy and biscuity, with soft fruits and soft resins. Powerful but harmonious.
2006-12-31, draught at Hop Devil, NYC, 8-5-9-5-18=45 Cloudy amber color; creamy head. Very nice hoppy aroma, with resins and fruits (delicate grapefruit). Good malty body, with an excellent aromatic and powerful hopping, with a lot of hop oils. Smooth and elegant. Excellent!
