This beer is a salute to the ingenuity and creativity of the American craft brewers. A uniquely American style of beer, the Double or Imperial IPA, has become the calling card of many craft brewers who aren’t afraid to push the limits of what hops can add to a beer. This beer is big and hoppy - not for the faint of heart! Be prepared to experience sensory overload as you savor this Imperial IPA. Sensory Profile: Hops, and lots of them. The aroma is bursting with the classic citrus and pine aroma of American-grown hops. The flavor is dominated by a hoppy bitterness, with just enough malt to make you want to take another sip. Food Pairing: This beer needs an assertive food to stand up to it. Match Captain’s Reserve with aged cheeses such as Stilton, cured and grilled meats.

clear yellow, huge thick slightly yellow whiteish head. very citrussy aroma, faint sweetness, oranges.. flavor is dry hoppy, grapefruit, sugar, pine, malty sweetness, yeasty bretty bitter note..huh?. A very bitter hoppy beer, unfortuneately the bitterness seems to be a bit too floral and strange, and the sweetness is not as caramelly and malty as i would like it, is more sweet like if sugar was added. Strong hoppy brew for sure, but i’ve had much better.

Bottle @ Unibar. Pours golden orange with a huge dense white head, long lasting to. This is how a beer should look. Nose is sweet fruity, like pineapple, abricot, little citruss and some sweet caramel malty notes. Taste is more sweet fruit, light hops, malts, caremel, bread. Medium body. Was expecting a alot more hoppy beer, and is wondering if ths was overaged, but no BBD to be found on the bottle. Still pretty good stuff, and ill give it another go when giving the chance.

(Bottle, thanks mybestfriend) Pours clear orange with an off-white head. The aroma is near medium hoppy with notes of oranges and herb tea alongside marzipan and white bread. Whisper of mango, hay, old white flowers and metal. The flavour is near medium sweet, medium bitter and light acidic. Herb tea, garlic, mild fruity, marzipan and white bread. The mouthfeel is soft, smooth and robust with a light carbonation. Medium bodied. Maybe a bit too old.

Maybe I just got to this bottle too late but Clear golden pour soapy off white head aroma of caramel malts and faded citrusy hops .... taste is bitter hops and sweet caramel malt, sweet citrusy hops that seem mellowed with a bitter dry hop finish .... would have to have another crack at this one but its just average

1st draught from a new keg at the brewery. Clear normal yellow beer with good head. No surprise the liveliness of the body and clarity of aroma were excellent this fresh. Full floral hops, pine and resin smell. Very bitter after an initial sweetness. Nice beer. Not too complex.

Bottle from half time pours light amber hue, white head with good retention. Nose is piney and inviting. Taste is malt centric with gobs of caramel. Bitterness, pine, and citrus show up on finish.
