COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a salute to the ingenuity and creativity of the American craft brewers. A uniquely American style of beer, the Double or Imperial IPA, has become the calling card of many craft brewers who aren’t afraid to push the limits of what hops can add to a beer. This beer is big and hoppy - not for the faint of heart! Be prepared to experience sensory overload as you savor this Imperial IPA. Sensory Profile: Hops, and lots of them. The aroma is bursting with the classic citrus and pine aroma of American-grown hops. The flavor is dominated by a hoppy bitterness, with just enough malt to make you want to take another sip. Food Pairing: This beer needs an assertive food to stand up to it. Match Captain’s Reserve with aged cheeses such as Stilton, cured and grilled meats.

Pours a really bright golden colour with a big fluffy white head. Looks clean! Aroma is filled with fresh bitter hops, some peach and lots of pine. Tiny notes of caramel can also be found. Spicy hoppy notes mixed with with a good caramell base makes this beer a pleasure to drink. Perhaps a bit to bitter, hops defintetely owns the malt in this one.

Yet another goody brought back from the trip to NYC. I always love getting awesome IIPA’s because there is no temptation to save them. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Scent is citrus and honey. Flavor is a touch grassy, which I normally don’t like, but enjoyed in this beer. Excellent level of bitterness. Well carbonated. Draft at Draught 55. Pours clearish blond with a thin white head. Aromas of citrus, pine and hops. Taste is very hoppy and citrusy with notes of grapefruit and orange and a bit of pine balanced with some malts. The alcohol definitely comes through in the finish.

Wow. This is my first from CL and I finished the glass wanting to try more. It pours a light golden color with a white cap. Aroma is citrusy, and the flavor matches perfect with a grapefruit and hoppy taste. A+ ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ours a very clear yellow with a lasting puffy white head. Aromas of sweet tropical fruit. Taste is similar, but the tropical fruit is overshadowed by pine bark bitterness. Finishes with a touch of alcohol heat and lip smackingly bitter. Pretty good.

Pours a murky, deep, yellow/ orange with a rambunctious head of soft foam that fell leisurely to some sticky, splotchy lace. The 1/2 inch of foam never left this beer. So pretty in the glass but not really orange. If you can appreciate that, it looks like lemon amber. Nose is scrumptious. Grapefruit, peaches, pineapple very tropical and juicy. A delicious malt character that is deep and full. Biscuit, bread and cracker. I would swear it’s pilsner malt I am smelling. Plenty of hop resin on the nose and some pine but not so much pine that it’s all you can smell. Taste is biscuit and cracker, strong, deep and full. A bitterness that does not exceed your ability to taste it or to want to have more if it. Perfectly balanced. Smooth, rich without heaviness. The hops are full but not out of proportion. Good bitter in the dry finish, with resonant malt and juicy fruity hops with a pine aftertaste rather than a pine sol taste up front.

In my opinion, this beer came right up to Alchemy Hour and said "look at me." It’s not the same as alchemy hour in that it has more cracker and biscuit malt, without as much caramel sweetness, and that’s why I like it so much.

Golden fizzy pour. Nice tall white nose with great lacing. Hoppy yet fairly light and crisp.
