vyvvy (1582), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA May 2, 2008 On tap at The Ginger Man in NYC. Pours hazy orange with an off-white head. The aroma has lots of hops ~ tropical, pine and citrus. There is a good rich caramel malt in the background, but definitely noticeable to give a very nice balance. The body is thick and chewy with moderate carbonation. The taste is much like the aroma and like the body the taste is very full and offers up more malt than the style usually shows. The hops are still very present and all aspects are represented well. It seems like there is a strong Simcoe hop presence. Very nice beer.
Rogueone (311), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Jul 23, 2008 Growler, thanks ogglethorp: Pours a translucent amber-orange. Aroma is buttery pine hops very strongly, and a citrus undertone. Very full flavor here, with a very strong pine bomb on the palate, and a higher than average bitter finish. Solid. swoopjones (1048), Buffalo, New York, USA Jul 20, 2008 On tap @ The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours a amber copper color. Aroma is malt heavy with caramel malts, some piney & citrusy hops. Flavor is extremely well balanced. Caramel malts up front followed by nice hop bitterness. Please come to WNY ogglethorp (752), Ohio, USA Jul 9, 2008 Growler gracioously given to me by The_Epeeist, huge thanks Chris!! Pours a coppery color with a medium sized pilowy white head. Aroma is citrus, lemon zest, caramel, pine. Flavor is citrus, pine, caramel, floral, hint of alcohol. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, finished with a nice balance between sweetness and bitterness. Great stuff. LilBeerDoctor (301), East Setauket, New York, USA Jul 2, 2008 Growler from Big Z’s, Huntington, NY. Pours an orange/brown with a small thick white head. Aroma predominantly of grapefruit, also some citrus, pine, and grassy hops. Flavor of bitter citrus hops, nice cookie malt. Very thick mouthfeel. For 8%, this is quite syrupy and hard to drink. I liked the aroma but the palate is too thick and muddies up the flavors. fredandboboflo (306), East Setauket, New York, USA Jul 2, 2008 Growler. Awesome aroma of intense, tangy grapefruit, sweet green grape. Flavor got a little muddy for me with the distinct aromatic characters getting lost amidst thick, semi-sweet malt, and turning to little more than balancing bitterness. Tasty, but not my kind of DIPA.
