swoopjones (1107), Buffalo, New York, USA Jul 20, 2008 On tap @ The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours a amber copper color. Aroma is malt heavy with caramel malts, some piney & citrusy hops. Flavor is extremely well balanced. Caramel malts up front followed by nice hop bitterness. Please come to WNY
imadeadguy (151), Westampton, New Jersey, USA Aug 27, 2008 Growler/tap. Wow! This is what a dipa should be. Pour is hazy amber with lacy white head. Aromas strong of pine, citrus, and sweet malt. Flavor is all hops. Not dry to finish and I can’t find anything wrong with this one. TheRealBastard (94), New Jersey, USA Aug 25, 2008 Tap at Captain Lawrence. This stuff is scary good. Best session beer on the planet. I debate between this and hopslam as my favorite DIPA’s. Pours foggy amber color with beautiful quarter in white head. It’s piney and juicy. Has a nice hoppy and fresh taste to it. Great summer slammer. This go down very easy, highly recommended double IPA. Slightly underated IMO. Bungalo22 (268), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Aug 24, 2008 Had the Captain Lawrence Double IPA on tap at Delaney’s In New Haven. It pours a dark yellow or off orange - it is hard to put your fingers on this color. The head is amazing and the lacing is sick. the lacing follows you down the glass to near perfection. It smells hoppy but not in a way that will blow out your senses because it appears to be well balanced in both aroma and taste. This is probably one of the smoothest Imperial IPAs I have ever had. It is bitter but there is also that malt backbone that keeps it from ripping your taste buds apart. acrdz (4285), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 27, 2008 Draft at CL. Dark golden straw in color. Hugely pungent, enticing nose of crystalline-sugared hop cones, citrus fruit, honey, clean, husky straw-scented malts, and a light dose of creamy yeast. Flavor is rich, sharp, exciting, pungent and bright, centers on mandarin oranges, some fainter grapefruit and melon notes, texture is somewhat oily and full but very smooth and palatable. Supremely delicious. Haslinger (518), Syracuse, New York, USA Jul 26, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Incredible smell of hops. The taste is almost pine with some definite sweet hops. Its sweet but almost bitter. Its not as hoppy as many IIPA’s Ive had. DEfinitely would buy again
