A great sour ale nose; oak, sour grapes, yeast, powerful fragrant notes. The flavor is tart, nearly acidic, lemons, massive sour barrel and grapes, loads of funky fresh flavor. Very drinkable. A super drink. Sledutah (232), Utah, USA

Appearance: Pours a cloudy straw color (looks like grapefruit juice), no head or lacing
Aroma: Sour fruits, sweet malts, oak, wheat
Taste: Tart, but some nice fruit, oak and sweet malts
This was a good sour beer. Not so sour that you loose your tastebuds and couldn’t taste anything else in the beer, but enough that you know your drinking a sour ale that was brewed great. nbutler11 (838), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Probably the best CL beer I’ve had, thus far. Reminds me a lot of RR Temptation. Pours golden in color with a white head. Loaded in aroma and flavor with tangerines, pepper, yeast, green grapes, and underripe citrus. I would drink this again, for sure. kiefdog (1708), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 17, 2010 375 ml bottle (batch 3) courtesy of LilBeerDoctor. Pours a hazy to cloudy peachy golden color with a white head that is initially large and fizzy, but collapses quickly until it disappears completely. The aroma was a pleasing blend of sweeter malts, white wine, oak, tart without imposing, Bretty funk, and lightly floral. The flavor is sweet pale malt, some citrus acidity, muscat grapes, white wine, mild Brett notes all smoothed out with the oak. Finish is tart, dry and acidic. Light to medium bodied and quite enjoyable.
Rating #301 for this beer. Tmoney99 (4870), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 17, 2010 Bottle shared at local BA gathering. Poured a clear pale color with a mostly lasted frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour, yeasty and wood aroma. Medium body with a smooth oily texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer for style. Thanks.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2010 Thanks to the one who brought this to tpd975’s place. Batch 3. Pours gold with a fizzy white head. Nose is lemon, fruit, vinegar, other manner of light fruit, herbs, and funk. Flavor is a tart lemon, vinegar, funk, and other sourness. Finishes in a nice way bringing its medium-bodied goodness to a close. I really don’t like sours, but Captain Lawrence keeps making ones that even I can enjoy. Very balanced- no one element has taken it over.
