Tropical fruit flourish from the salient sourness in this expertly-crafted and compelling Sour Ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the cloudy blond.
-The very complex fruitiness develops pineapples, litchis, green apples, and the white grape character is delicate.
-The soft prickliness and perfectly-sculpted body make for a smashing mouthfeel.
-The tartness is lengthy and gripping, yet doesn’t exaggerate.
-The white grape character is not as obvious in this one as it is in Russian River’s Depuration, but this Castleton seemed more harmonious throughout and was simply more enticing.

Thanks toncatcher for a great beer. This style has become one of my favorites. Lots of sour grapes, and vinard aromas. Sour pucker type flavors. Like biting into a lemon. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 30, 2007 Updated: Oct 26, 2009750ml bottle, thanks to theisti. Powerful aroma, hugely sour and citric, some really funky stuff going on here, notes of leather, straw, lemon, this is just a yeast funkhouse, although notes of light, candyish sugar, dried flowers, dill leaf and catnip appear as well. Cloudy pale yellow color, head is large-bubbled and sparse. Flavor is massively tart and sour, puckering and acidic from start to finish with some light wheat flavor, lemony citrus, persistent herbal hop tones, oak, and a nice, mild bitterness throughout. Light body, mildly effervescent, smooth and thin on the palate. Nice sour!
Update: sampled on draft a few times at GABF 2009. Best beer of the night. Bumping the rating up a few notches! Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark

Lightly sour aroma with hints of citrus (lemon) and some hints of oak. Hazy lemon in color with a small head. The palate was perfect for the style--not too thin and perfectly carbonated. The taste is wonderfully, lightly tart with lemon flavors, some oak accents, and just a hint of yeast. Very easy to drink, and very enjoyable flavor.
