4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Did a batch 2-5 vertical, but will review the batch 2 since I thought it was the best of the 4. Thanks Matt. Light peach/pale yellow in color, slightly hazy, with some soapy head. Smell is apricot, white wine, smarties/sweet tarts, and some mineral. Flavor mirrors the nose, apricot and a lot of white wine, and some bracing acidity. Light mouthfeel, lively carbonation, and some solid acidity. Great beer, Captain Lawrence really knows there way around an American wild.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
375ml shared with mattyb83. Pours a light golden orange with a little haze. A lot of carbonation on this one in the glass. Wow! Wonderful aroma just FULL of brett, lemon, grass, hay, funk. Some sharp acidity on the nose. Absolutely wonderful. Light bodied with flavors of grapes, lemon rind, perfectly balanced oak. Seems more acidic this year than last. Just KILLER. The finish still manages to be soft, yet pretty tart, with some funk and lemon zest rounding it out. The effervescence whisks the flavors off your palate and leaves you with some cool acidic funk. Very nice. Thanks Matty!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared by an ever and always generous jrob21. Really nice to try this interesting sour. Golden yellow, small white head. Really intriguing aroma, slight funkiness, apricot, slight citrus. Flavor is all that and more...funky sour, but not overly so. Some tartness, a variety of fruit with apricot predominating, also aspects of wine character, presumably from the grapes. Personally not a huge apricot fan, so that takes this beer down a notch or two, but awfully glad to have tried this thoroughly surprising beer.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml. bottle. This one was a gusher. Poured a light yellow tan with an immense white head that lasted only seconds. Winy, sour aroma with a pleasant hint of oak. The flavor is very complex, with grape skins, key lime, buttery oak, sour green apple, and a hint of bready yeast. The finish is crisp and sour but not overpowering. I wish that there had been less carbonation as I thought it got in the way of this brewís incredible flavor and overall experience. Overall I was a bit disappointed, but it still is one delicious beer.

750mL at Carolina Goes Sour thanks to turdferguson. Thanks Sam! Batch 2 bottle poured a light golden into a snifter. Aroma of light grapes, white in particular that give the light bodied tartness. Taste is similarly tart with a light sourness and most of the body is that white grape. Super smooth for a sour with was refreshing after our day of sour tasting. This beer stood out from the rest even though we had it side by side with Cable Car. I wanted to put it even with CC, but couldnít after the final sips. Great brew.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Backlogged rating...shared by my brother, Black95tt. The beer pours a very effervescent yellow with lots of carbonation. It exploded from the bottle when poured. This beer has a wonderful aroma full of grapes, lemony citrus, and even some zestiness and spice. All of which meld very well with the oak and wine nose that comes through...and then all kicked in the face with the brett aroma that makes its presence very well known but all the while very welcome and enjoyable in the beer. The flavors of this beer are where the beer somewhat falls short...it is still good but no where near what I was expecting after falling in love with the aroma of this beer. The flavor is a nice sweet and sour mix of lemon mixed with a nice dryness from the wine oak barrel. And while it is nice it is somewhat one dimensional and doesnt see much change throughout the beer, and there is just not as much complexity as I was hoping for. Still a very good beer, and I am very happy I got the chance to try it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Partial vertical made possible by three separate people. I am reviewing batch 2, 3, and 4.
Beers were poured into wine glasses side by side. None of them had a head or lacing. All were light yellow in color.
Batch 2 - very cloudy and hazy. Iím not convinced that it was yeast from being disturbed from the bottom of the bottle. The aroma was quite bretty, Brett b I think mostly, quite funky with a hint of acetic tinge. Beer is oddly thin with a good forward lactic acid, no sweetness, mild tartness.
Batch 3 - very clear and highly carbonated. It looked like champagne in the glass. Very bright. This beerís aroma was quite sweeter with cherries and oak. Beer was still quite sour, less brett and funky, dominant lactic with a trail of acetic.
Batch 4 - The newest batch just released a few weeks ago. This beer is cloudy again, moderately carbonated. Aroma is strongly sweet, much much sweeter than the other two. Mostly lactic, not much acetic in this one. The aroma is the strongest out of the three, nice. This beer has quite the brett bite to it, good funk, some oakiness I didnít detect in the others.

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dry and slightly sweet aroma. Gold in color and clear appearance. Almost like a dry wine, it has a very strong sour finish. It lingers for a few minutes.
