The beer is a light clear brown with a very watery looking head that is gone quickly and provides no lacing. The aroma is medium but pretty one note with light horse blanket funk and at the end a touch of spice. The taste is surprsing as it starts out sweet, something that is not expected at all. The sweet fades pretty quickly to a some nice sour, but not horse blanket just sour. The feel is a little to watery for me, but a nice lasting finish and drinkablility. Overall, a pretty decent sour as it provides some surprsing notes to it.

Muddled, boring berries sour that was not bad but also not really all that special. A completely whatever wild ale that shows that completely whatever wild ales can still somehow get a 7 for taste.

Pour @ NotB. Redish brown pour. Sour, woody, cherry and raspberry aroma. Flavor is a little sweet and a little sour, with oak and cherry, raspberry and cranberry notes. A little low on carbonation though.

A Sim rate (Extreme Beer Fest Night of the Barrels): Not enough of an aroma. Some nice sweetness there. Sweet & sour with cherries, raspberries & even cranberries. Tangy, glorious finish.

Cask at EBF. Pours a amber body with a bubbly white head. Sour woody and very tannic woody with some light berries. A bit nutty with a mild acidity and a lingering sourness. Seems young and underdeveloped.

In short: A fruity tannic sour ale of low intensity. Decent brew.
How: Cask at Boston Extreme Beer Fest 2010. Night Of The Barrel session.
The look: Cloudy amber body with a few big bubbles of foam acting as a head
In long: Nose is fruity and sour. Taste is very fruit, light-medium sourness with mouth drying tannins, very low acidity. Low carbonation and a bit lifeless even by cask standard. Not intense at all. If anything this beer is more tannic than sour. Rather easy to drink for a sour ale. Another Captain Lawrence special event brew that felt like something just thrown together with no specific plan. A nice brew but at best an average Sour ale. Only one sample of this one at Extreme Beer Fest. Because you know, finding a decent sour ale at EBF is like trying to find a needle in a needle factory.

Pouring at EBF’s Night of the Barrels. Pours a hazy brown with a couple of soda bubbles comprising the entirety of the head. Thin, sour, a little vinyl to it. Nutty and bitter, acidic. Some acetic acid on the finish. Think this would be great in a couple of months, reminiscent of the really early Flaming Fury which turned out to be fantastic later.
