4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
375mL bottle for my 2000th beer. Big thanks to Doodler for this big time want.
A: Fizzy clear gold. No head at all, though. Great color, pretty much still in every other aspect, like wine.
N: Super sour lactic acid. Apricots and peaches. Vinegar. Some residual sugar. Raspberry and acetone. Oak. Quite nice if not overly complex.
T: Really shines here, unlike the nose. Lots of peaches still. Apricots and lemons. A good balancing sweetness which seems to be a hallmark of American Wilds. Oak is adding a nice balance. Unlike the sharp nose, this has a pleasant sour quality to it.
M: Crisp and light on the tongue. This is exactly what I want from American Wilds. Not the heavy dense liquid I’m so often getting.
O: A shining example of the style, though I wish the nose had held up like the body. I’m still thrilled to have tried this.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a hazy golden with a small white head that leaves spotty lacing. Nose is of vinegar, oak and just generally acetic. Taste is of vinegar, acetone, light fruits (peaches). Moderate body and carbonation with surely a vinous mouthfeel, just like red wine vinegar is vinous I guess. Meh, another vinegary mess ’merican sour.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (375 ml) shared at tasting. Thanks to czar for sharing. Hazy orangey with a small white head, moderate retention, leaving little lacing. Aroma of tropical fruits, acetic fruitiness, mild acetone and herbal notes. Taste is a bit sweet, moderate acetic presence, mild buttery notes. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Oaky finish. Not the most complex sour and slightly off. A tad too acetic for my liking.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from an old bottle, batch 1 likely.
Aroma is moderately fruity with a medium light stone fruit note. Some light tropical fruit with light oak. Medium acidity with some light citrus notes.
Pours a hazy, pale gold with a small, thin white head that recedes to the edges where it lingers for a bit. No lacing and small legs.
Flavor is moderately acidic with some medium light peach and stone fruit notes. Light tropical fruit with medium light citrus. Light oak with low bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a nice beer. Good fruit notes that have lasted surprisingly well considering the age. Acidity is a bit sharp, but not too over the top.
