3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Gianni - thanks! Pours a hazy glowing orange with a thick head of white foam. Aroma is sweet brandy with tart fruit, oak, and a mix of sweet underlying malts. Taste is heavier with brandy than the aroma and contains vanilla, semi-hot alcohol, and somewhat tart bitterness over dense, sweet malt. Mouthfeel is relatively light but appropriate for the beer. Quite different but the brandy barrel really dominates making it very hard to pick up much from the underlying base beer. Nice beer though.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL bottle. Pours gold and fizzy, lively, with a small, short-lived head. Aromas of sour apple and cider, yeast, and lemon juice. Mild apple spice, and booze, as it warms. The flavor is tart apple, cider, booze, and brandy; sweet, a little hot, with apple brandy notes. Buttered toast, oak, apple butter, butterscotch, vanilla, and sweet apple in the finish. High carbonation, medium body, lending to a lively beer, with tart and dry qualities. Nice, subtle barrel-aged apple and brandy flavors. This grows on me as I drink it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle picked up at Captain Lawrence.
The beer is indeed golden colord with a thick whit head. The aroma offers yeast, light spice, malt, booze. Brandy emerges more in the flavor, as well as prominent apple and pears throughout. A bit hot in both the aroma and flavor. Oak character emerges more as the beer warms. Lingering alcoholic warmth with a touch of spices and yeast. Slightly sweet and fruity. Medium bodied with plenty of carbonation. Overall, this was a fun beer to try, but not among my favorites of the style.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
A - Pours a hazy golden-orange color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet malts, apples, Brandy, oak, Belgian yeast, coriander and other spices, lemon zest, and some booze.
T - Starts off with a mix of sweet pale malts with some tart apples, lemon zest, some light spices and a bit of vanilla. Through the middle, the oak and Brandy come through with some more Belgian yeast flavors with some coriander and other spices. The finish is a mix of apple Brandy, oak, sweet malts, lemon zest, Belgian yeast, and some booze.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and warming finish.
D - Very drinkable. The apple brandy goes really nicely with the big Tripel base.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sample at 20th Vermont Brewers Festival from a bottle pour. A nice golden apple colour with a billowy white head. The apple brandy on this one was fairly overwhelming - lots of alcohol and apples leaving little room for anything else except for some pears. Mild carbonation and strong body with lots of alcohol - hops come through more on the palate in terms of dryness and some bitterness but either this was too young or it just wasn’t my thing.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle... Poured a hazy pale, golden with a thick white head. This was nice. Noticeable booze with hop bitterness and barrel characters. Some nice fruits and a hint of tangy apples. Vanilla, yeast spice and esters. Earthy floral hops that worked with the booze and barrel characters. Wow, this is nice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle to snifter. I actually poured this into a ceramic coffee mug first to take with me on a walk with the wife. First impression was that it had a lasting head that clung to the side of the mug. Aroma was apple brandy and flavor was highly alcoholic. I regretted opening this without letting it age more. When I go home, though, I poured it into a snifter and really appreciate the glowing goldenrod color and that white head that is still around. The aroma is much fruitier with prominent notes of apple cider and pear juice. The taste is still pretty boozy but less astringent now that it has opened up a bit. There’s a slight sourness that I wasn’t expecting. Light in the mouth and finishes pretty dry. I would have appreciated a little more malt body and flavor to round out the rough brandy edge.
