COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Batch 1 (2008) and Batch 2 (2010) of Captain Lawrence’s Extra Gold aged in apple brandy barrels. There’s nothing quite likes Mom’s apple pie…But I am willing to bet this beer is pretty darn close. An American Tripel, dry-hoped with Amarillo hops and aged in Apple Brandy barrels from one of this country’s oldest distilleries. The tropical aroma of the hops and the delicate apple aroma from the barrels are a perfect match

On tap at RnH for bronite. Opaque amber-orange pour with small head. Sweet, clean aroma and tart apple palate with only slight puckeriness. Balanced. Kind of like a sour and an IPA combined.

Draft at rattle with xndrew, Brendan, streets. Pours a golden hazed body. Aroma is fruity and wheaty. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonated with notes of seedy apples.

Yeah, draft at the Dutch today with lunch. Apple brandy? bit more on the whiskey side in both phenolic nose and biting wood. An eye opener. Truly a brew to be a bit wary of. 10% is for real. Hoppy and whiskey bite are not toned down. (Ours go to eleven). While a fine, fine experience, one was enough for this young man.

very nice and very dry kinda hoppy belgian. really bone dry with an apple crispness like a cider. some biscuit and belgian yeast aromas and alcohol is present but subdued. this is great, though aftertaste is a bit odd, like apple pie past its prime.

Bomber. Pour is fairly golden with plenty of head and lacing. Nose of yeast, fruit, booze and a little barnyard funk. Taste was fruity with less funk and a nice warming brandy finish. Good stuff.

The name "Golden Delicious" refers equally to it’s color and taste as well as to it’s apple origins - the Golden Delicious apple. Nice refreshing drink.. vanilla as well

Quick work rate. Hazy, yet deep, straw color. Aroma is very much a Belgian tripel, but with a nice dose of apples. Slight booziness present. Taste is apples, vanilla, oak, and huge lighter fruit flAvors.

On tap at Rockaway Seafood Company. Nice aroma of juicy apples, pears, brandy, and oak. Very low, almost flat carbonation. Sticky mouthfeel. Flavor is much the same as the nose, with plenty of ripe fruit, some spicy black pepper, and a fruity but dry finish. Just ever so slightly flawed on the finish, with an alcoholic burn from the 10% ABV. Still not bad at all though.

A: The beer pours a hazy golden orange color with a tall white head. S: Smells of bread and oak with some vanilla and lots of sweet fruits. A touch of sugar with a light citrus note to it along with some sweet caramel malts. Just a hint of booze and tartness. T: The flavor is quite sweet and sugary as well. There is a lot of brandy flavor, pear, and apple to it. Some sweet, caramel and bread notes are also there. Just a bit of citrus peel, mostly orange and lemon. M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. O: The nose had a little too much heat for my liking, but the flavor was good and the beer was enjoyable all around.

750 ml bottle courtesy of Forgetfu (thanks Bill!) poured a clear gold with a lingering ring of white bubbles. Aromas of aple, pear, straw, candi sugar, light oak and a hint of peper. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, apple, pear, light oak and light candi sugar with a crisp dry lingering fruity finish.
