Ppir is clear orange/pinkish with white head with good lacing. Aroma has lots of flowers, homey, light citrus, funk. Taste has some flowers, honey, brett, lemon but then it gets followed by lots of acetic notes. Low body and medium carb.

In short: An acetic oaky sour pale ale with a whole lot of flowers. Just ok.
How: Bottle 12.7oz, consumed approximately 9 months after first bottle rating. Bottle from my man dmac, thanks a ton Dave.
The look: Opaque pale auburn color body topped by a small beige head.
In long: The strong nose blends a bouquet of flowers over a typical acetic American pale sour, some fruity esters (watermelons, apricots, bananas) also join in. Taste is pretty much just that. Strong acetic character typical of too many American Sours, plenty of oak, tannins, earthy flowers of all kinds, bee pollen, grapefruits juice, chewing a mouthful of flower petals, licking a lithium battery. Some funky notes here and there but it is buried by the acidity and sourness levels which are pretty high, this is definitively a sipper. Lots of hard bubbles that increase the already high acidity sensation. Not a bad beer but Iím getting increasingly tired of acetic American Sours, maybe it was better when fresher and probably less sour/acetic. It was almost hard to finish my bottle. This beer is made using roses and other flowers, however I donít think there was anything gay about me drinking a beer made with roses and other flowers while I took a warm bubble bath, although it might be a bit gay-ish that my friend Dave was in there with me.

Boutip (4775) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 5, 2013
Bottle: Poured a light dirty pink color ale with a quite large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of tart notes with light oak and some dominant notes of hibiscus. Taste is also dominated by tart notes with light oak notes with some dominant flavours of hibiscus with light dry Brett finish. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed with very good refreshing factor.

Aroma is fairly Brett forward with some nice barnyard funk and tropical fruit. The funk is balanced by a moderately strong floral note and some moderate phenolic spice notes. Light citrus character also present in the aroma. Pours a fairly clear golden amber, a really pretty color that is a blend of gold and red. Big pillowy white head that recedes quickly leaving a small white head on top and along the edges. Some medium lacing and no legs. Flavor starts out fairly dry with a pale malt and Brett character, similar to a Brett IPA in malt profile. There is a balanced barnyard funk present upfront as well. Mid palate the beer develops a sweetness with moderate floral and tropical fruit notes. The finish has a medium low bitterness as well as a medium low acidity which helps dry the beer out again. Phenolics are fainter in the flavor. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with high carbonation. Low but present astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall I enjoy the aroma, beginning palate and end palate, but the sweetness in the middle is a bit abrupt. It comes quickly and leaves just as quickly leaving you wondering why it was even there. The v bitterness is a bit to strong as is the astringency. A good beer but it needs a bit of fine tuning.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a clear burnt siena with a touch of red and an off-white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice light sour acidity with some underlying flora, wine and light fruits. Flavor has more of a floral note with a nice underlying light sour fruit note and a dry wine like finish. A bit thin on the tongue.

Bottle shared with friends. Big thanks to my buddy Ed for bringing this back home from his recent trip to NY. Probably the most hoppy sour beer Iíve ever tried, which made for a very interesting/enjoyable drinking experience. Super tasty.
