3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared at WtWBA in Brooklyn 2012. Pours a deep, hazy reddish amber body. Aroma is straight 3 year old gouda cheese. Funky, funky cheese dominates both the aroma and the palate. Mouthfeel is medium and lightly syrupy with notes of funked cheese. Not much else. Glad I got to try this, but seemed to be a bit passed its prime.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle through trade from Dak! HUGE thanks for the only Captain sour release I missed out on. Bottle was red wax dipped on the cap and opened without a hiss. Pour has a slightly red golden amber color with no head and no visible carbonation. Aroma has dusty dry cherry, light acidity, oak, slight funk, and peach skins. Mouth feel is medium for a sour and the carbonation is gone. Flavor has more acidity than the aroma, light dusty cherry, bitter fruit skins, oak, yeasty funk, and it dries out nicely. As the bottle went on there was a lot of changes. It started out clean and dry with the base sour shining and got more funky with the fruit getting a bit more dusty. I must have been very lucky because the bottle was in great condition for the age!

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle. I had so much expectation from this one, but alas nothing in the end. Pours out a nice brighter red hue, looks great, nice lacing. Aromas are decent some funk and cherries, tartness, but not alot, some basement off putting what it really should be. Palate is thin, with no finish and a ton of acidic bad cherry. The only reason this gets a higher rating than a 3 is I’ve had the Lixir version from NOTB 09, and it was fantastic. Wish it had been that way in the bottle.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(375ml bottle thanks to Exiled) milkshake cream/orange pour with very little head. Nose is oxidized big time, cardboard, a bit tart, mildly acetic smelling. Taste is very oxidized, nice sourness, cherry pit, moss, good flavor, but it lost a bit of carbonation along its travels I believe.
