12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Super fresh seeing as its only mid-August.
A - Typical dark yet clear brown body. Two finger high off white head settles down to a patchy cap. Almost no lacing or retention to speak of.
S - Roasted pumpkin, light bready malts, a touch of english style hops, smooth spices on the finish with just a hint of brown sugar sweetness.
T - Amazingly this has pumpkin flavor to it. Roasted pumpkins with a slight vegetal quality to it, light spices, and a great balance of bready caramel malts and ever so bitter english hops. A great deal of flavor, but it disappears quickly. Mouth feel is medium to light with a crisp carbonation.
O - This beer does seem to do things a bit differently than most pumpkin ales. Like other reviewers have noted, this is basically a session ale. A great REAL pumpkin flavor that is never too spicy or sweet. Perfect beer for the transition from summer into fall.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Captain Lawrence. Pours deep amber with a tiny white head. The nose is light nutmeg, caramel, toasted grain and black pepper. The taste is thin caramel sauce, allspice, nutmeg, some honeyed bread. Thin mouthfeel, not as rich as I was expecting. Light body, a bit watery. Overall, not a fantastic pumpkin ale. Acceptable, but not one Iíd return to quickly.

Sometimes itís midnight on a Tuesday and u pop a pumpkin ale even though itís summer. Well this was one of those tuesdays. I have this before but never from bottle. Pours copper with thin head and light thanksgiving spicing on nose. Tastes of nutmeg, vanilla, brown sugar, and butter. Itís thin with not a lot of depth. Not one of the better ones from CL

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2013
Location: Updating again with a 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, now available in NJ!, 9/3/13
Aroma: The aroma is pumpkin spice, some nutmeg, yeast, caramel, some earth
Appearance: It pours an unclear amber color with a frothy beige head and some decent lace
Flavor: Tastes spicy and a little sweet, it pretty much hits the pumpkin spice flavor that Iíd expect
Palate: The body is medium, it has a lively carbonation, a sticky feel, and a lengthy finish
I liked this beer, but I didnít love it. Wow, I didnít remember it at all from last fall, but I am still a Captain Lawrence fan in general. These guys make a heck of a beer, and their pumpkin is no exception...
Location: Updating with a 12 oz bottle from Half Time, 10/4/12
Aroma: The nose is toasted malts, spice/clove, yeast, and some caramel malts
Appearance: It pours a clear orange color with a small off-white head and minimal lace
Flavor: Tastes rather malty, lightly sweet, has minimal bitterness, and lacks in pumpkin flavor
Palate: This one has a decent mouthfeel, a lightish body, soft carbonation, and shortish duration
I had to go down a bit with the score here, this one just doesnít have enough Pumpkin spice flavor to go any higher then a "6" for me. Otherwise, the bottle version gets the same score as the draft.
Location: Draft at Ginger Man, 11/12/11
Aroma: It has pumpkin spice, yeast, caramel, and some clove, spice, and grass too
Appearance: This one pours a pale-orange color with a white head and light lace
Flavor: Tastes balanced, light-medium sweet, some spice, light-medium hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a clean feel, and a somewhat dry and spicy finish
This isnít a bad pumpkin beer, but it isnít a stand-out either. Certainly plenty sessionable, but overall, a bit lacking. I would have like a little more "punch."

On tap at Blue Smoke. Orangish brown pour with light off-white head. Aroma has roasted malt with caramel and sweet spice. The flavor seems like a brown ale base: roasted malt character, almost coffee like, with nutmeg and sweet potato. Decent brown ale base + decent level of pumpkin-like spices = decent pumpkin ale.

I canít wait until Halloween is over so that I am not reluctantly forced into drinking another pumpkin beer. That being said, this is ok. I wouldnít mind basteing my thanksgiving turkey in this. Our fore fathers would have loved it.

On tap at Captain Lawrence brewery, Pleasantville, NY. An attractive amber/orange coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Pumpkin, spice aroma. Tastes of pumpkin, spice, malty. Rather thin and dull compared to other pumpkin beers.
