Tap at Blind Tiger. Clear pale amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is of soft allspice, clove and a touch of munich malt aroma. Flavour is a bit thin, with light pale malt, a kiss of crystal and even some crackey maris otter maltiness. Fairly understated spiciness but with a light spicy hoppiness and a soft dryness. Slightly herbal... it’s okay, but fairly understated. Quite British tasting. Simple but nice.

Draft at Thai Rock. Deep orange brown pour, head is slightly off white. Aroma and flavor profile are typical pumpkin ale.....cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg. Finishes slightly dry. Average.

Location: Draft at Ginger Man, 11/12/11

Aroma: It has pumpkin spice, yeast, caramel, and some clove, spice, and grass too
Appearance: This one pours a pale-orange color with a white head and light lace
Flavor: Tastes balanced, light-medium sweet, some spice, light-medium hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a clean feel, and a somewhat dry and spicy finish
Overall Impression: This isn’t a bad pumpkin beer, but it isn’t a stand-out either. Certainly plenty sessionable, but overall, a bit lacking. I would have like a little more "punch."

On tap at Blue Smoke. Orangish brown pour with light off-white head. Aroma has roasted malt with caramel and sweet spice. The flavor seems like a brown ale base: roasted malt character, almost coffee like, with nutmeg and sweet potato. Decent brown ale base + decent level of pumpkin-like spices = decent pumpkin ale.

I can’t wait until Halloween is over so that I am not reluctantly forced into drinking another pumpkin beer. That being said, this is ok. I wouldn’t mind basteing my thanksgiving turkey in this. Our fore fathers would have loved it.

On tap at Captain Lawrence brewery, Pleasantville, NY. An attractive amber/orange coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Pumpkin, spice aroma. Tastes of pumpkin, spice, malty. Rather thin and dull compared to other pumpkin beers.

Average beer. Could use much more pumpkin. I haven’t been able to find anything close to Pumking.

Growler fill at Whole Foods Bowery. Pours a medium to dark orange. Notes of nutmeg, clove and allspice are predominant. At first i didn’t fully acknowledge all that this pumpkin ale had to offer, but after i let the growler sit after a few days the carbonation disipated and the aromas and flavors have become more predominant.

Draft at rattle with baron, Andrew, streets, and Brendan. Pours an amber body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is light spice. Mouthfeel is thin and carbonated, tastes like a pumpkin flavored yuengling.

The aroma is pumpkin, brown sugar, spices, ok. The appearance is the standard orange, white head. The flavor is caramel, pumpkin, more spicy. The finish is spices like cinnamon, nutmeg. The body is thin/medium. OK, drinkable, far from the best pumpkin ale.
