2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Crosling (1863) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - MAY 24, 2009Pros: Has some positive things going on. Nice oak character. Fairly long finish. Didn’t gush.
Cons: Really overly sour. Doesn’t have the softness, nuance and balance I prefer in the style. Harshly sour, masking so many other elements, like the wood and fruit. I like this style but this shows no finesse.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 watson1977 (2360) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 12, 2013
Pours an opaque purple/brown color with a medium tan/pinkish head. Aroma has mild grape sweetness and nice vinous and oak notes...mild tartness. Flavor has very brief sweet grape that is quickly consumed by lots of oak and sour and vinous grape...some acidity. Mouthfeel is light and silky with a sour/vinous finish that fades to oak.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 mathieuc (322) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 7, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 8, 2013 Batch 4 thanks to Tom, thanks man! Pours a slightly murky brown/red. Aroma is really fruity and reminescent of La Roja (could it be the benchmark for american sours?). There is also a nice lacto sharpness to it. Taste is sweet but not too much. Flavors are once again fruity with grapes dominating but there are other notes in there too: strawberry and cherries mostly. There is also a fun vinegar in there although a bit too soft for my liking I think. A really good american sour ale!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 48FanInCali (515) - California, USA - JUN 5, 2013
Batch #4 - Murky brown pour with a head that fades real quick. Nose of grapes, fruit, brett, and light vinegar. Taste follows the know with tons of vinous qualities. Also picking up some barrel character. Good stuff but probably a little young.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 pivnizub (8046) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - MAY 21, 2013
Bottle(many thanks to Rian for sharing this!): Cloudy, amber coloured with a reddish sheen, very small head, sour and sharp lactic acid in the nose, dark malt detectable, brett-like aromas, too; solid sour flavour, light bodied; delicate acidity the finish, rounded by flavours of vanilla and wood. Good, but IMHO not earth-shaking…

Red wine tannins, very oaky, sour canned cherries and raspberries, light brown sugar. M - nice tart beer. Very acidic strait away. Low carb. full body. nice strong palate. Lingering sour malty notes. T - tart red fruits (cherry and raspberry) up front. Simple acids and and red wine vinegar. Brown sugar, simple sugar, caramel malts, red wine and oak tannins on the palate. Oak, brown sugar and vegetal malts linger as the tartness settles. O - good but not as complex as I like. 3.9

Taste is vinous with a slight tartness. Barnyard funk on the finish. Body is solid and the booze warms. A great companion to getting my work completed.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jbeatty (542) - New York, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Bottle, batch 4, 05/06/2013. Pours deep mahogany, ruby highlights, creamy haze covering the surface, dense lacing. Aroma is balsamic vinegar, sour plums, dark fruits and berries, noticeable grape notes, nutty caramel hiding behind, wood on the finish. Taste is tart dark berries and sour red grapes, darker sour chocolate, caramel malt, oaky finish with lingering vinous sweetness. Really nice, creamy palate, very drinkable despite some sourness. Nice, surprising treat for me.
