pineypower (846), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Apr 10, 2008 Pours out dark brown with a rocky grayish head. Aroma is of bourbon, roasted malt and oak. Taste is complex, bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, earthy oak flavor and some barrel funkiness. Nice mouthfeel. I liked the rum better, but I’m a rum drinker, this was damn good though.
caesar (2471), Zeist, Netherlands Jul 26, 2008 Bottled. Cloudy brown color, short brown head. Aroma is sour, vanilla, roasted malt, bit dusty, sweet vanilla blanket. Sourish taste, very strong, bit alcoholic, peppery. Very nice aroma, but bit burning taste. bierkoning (4636), La Tropica, Netherlands Jul 22, 2008 Bottle from Dickinsonbeer, tasted at DTS in Bunnik. Batch # 1. Balsamic vinegar, cinnamon and only a hint of smoke in the aroma. the smoke is more noticeable in the flavor, that has some oaky and sour notes, bretty even. Hint of licorice. Delicious, well balanced beer with some warming alcohol in spite of the modest ABV. bager (1900), Copenhagen N, Denmark Jul 22, 2008 Bottled. Pours quite black with a medium sized brown head. Somewhat dry with notes of wood, berries, coffee, liqourice and has a hint of sourness. jerohen (1458), Bussum, Netherlands Jul 20, 2008 Dutch tasting session Bunnik. Bottled. Opaque, big brown head. Sour nose, fruity. Fruity flavour as well, oak, malts. A very odd mix of flavours. Bit too weird for me. jbrus (4056), Delft, Netherlands Jul 19, 2008 Bottle@DTS. Complex aroma of oak, vanilla, hints of cherry and light lactic. Very dark brown color, fine beige head, very nice lace. Sweet, bitter, sour. Actually very weird stuff. Flavors are not bad but rather unbalanced.
