Commercial Description:
The marriage of beer and oak is a truly wonderful thing. Just like wine, whiskey or rum, beer can also gain in complexity when aged in oak barrels. But if you take it one step further and age the beer in oak barrels that had previously held word class wine, well then you can elevate the experience even higher. This is our Smoked Porter, aged in French oak barrels that were previously used to age Merlot and Pinot Noir. We let the beer age in the barrels for around 12 months before adding a fresh dose of yeast to allow the beer to naturally carbonate in the bottle.

Bottled. A very dark brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet wtih notes of wine, herbs, grapes, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of wine, as well as notes of wood, roasted malt, and a light tart brettanomyces note, almost giving it a flavor of a lambic, leading to a very dry woody finish where the note of wine carries thru. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of BrianK. Pours an almost opaque black with a vague tint of orange and a dense, creamy beige head. Tart aroma of Brett with lots of pleasant woody accents. Medium body, some burned malt but in a subdued fashion. Again wood and a lightly sour astringent Brett. Light and dry finish. Very refreshing and highly drinkable due to the low ABV. 250608 and 260708

22 fl oz bottle, thanks to Papsoe. Pours dark brown to black with a lacing light brown and creamy head. Extremely fruity and with smooth acidic notes from the bret and barrel. Light roasted malt note too. Flavour starts citric but soon goes into a nice roasted malt flavour before a nice dry and mild woody note appears. Smooth roasted and fruity finish with a light brett note along.8-4-9-5-17=4.3

black, creamy tan head settles down and leaves lace in its wake, charred wood and funk aroma, lots of burnt chocolate flavor, short lived winey sweetness, touch of tartness mixed in with the roasted that continues to grow,

Muddy brown. Vinous, chocolatey aroma with plum and pear...near endless depth of complexity. The body is a lttle bit spritzy, but really vibrant. Great flavours - wood, wine, chocolate, pear, smoke, Ting, and on it goes. A real masterwork.
