COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A complex beer, with layers of flavors unfolding as this beer slides down your throat. Before the introduction of indirect-fired malt kilns, all beers had a smoky flavor. Today only a handful of brewers produce beer reminiscent of those of the past. We use imported German smoked malt to add depth and complexity to our Smoked Porter. Sensory Profile: Aromas of smoked wood, licorice, and dark fruit. The flavor is a balance of smokiness, roasted malt, coffee, and malty sweetness. Food Pairing: A natural match for any smoked or grilled meats. The smoky flavor of the meat and the unique smoky flavor of the beer blend beautifully to elevate the enjoyment of them both.

Bottle thanks to Homer, thanks man! Bottle shared split with my better half, pours a dark brown with a thin tan head, aroma has quite a bit of chocolate and coffee with a little bit of roast as well, the flavor has a chocolate and roasty front end with a good kick of smoke and ash in the finish, not too much of burnt pig meat, which is nice, pretty subtle but you can tell the smoke is there, nice.

Chocolate, mild roast coffee, burnt toast make up the flavor profile. Nose has cocoa, cappuccino, mild sweetness. Mouthfeel is a touch grainy and palate is very dry in finish

Bottle from UDBeernut. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is mix of smoke, roasted coffee, Taste is smoke, and mild roasted coffee. Aftertaste is slightly astringent and smokey. Hard to tell the difference. Not a hudge fan of smoked beers anymore, but this is not too bad.

On the First Day of Christmas 2013 the beer gods gave to me . . . one smoky porter. Pouts a dark brown color with a soapy off white foam head. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, some chocolate, and roast. Thins sweet caramel taste with vanilla notes and a dose of smoke. I like my brews roasty and not smoky so that knocks it down a pinch for me. But if you like the smoke variety, you will enjoy the complexity.

Tap at Blue Smoke, NYC, 24/11/13. Light black with a moderate tan head that clears to a pond and edge work. Nose is dark malts, smoke, dark fruit, earthy cocoa, treacle toffee. Taste comprises lightly smoked malts, brown sugars, earthy cocoa, touch of spice, dark fruit tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry roast with a lingering layer of smoke in the finish. Decent smoked affair, fairly subtle rausching thus retaining its shape a porter like status.

Bottle just says "Smoked Porter" not Pleasantville, but seems to be the same beer. Bottled: unk Nice dark brown with sanguine notes on the edges. Tan foam sheet is near complete. Smells of cocoa, light campfire, bread, and a touch of almond or peanut. Flavor is great, robust with a good dose of toasted malts, smoke, some bits of dark chocolate, some nutty character among the very well integrated and clean smoke flavor. The nose opens more smoke as it warms. Near full bodied with a soft carbonation that gives the beer a really good mouthfeel. Very well done beer, the smoke is assertive and nuanced enough to showcase the beer alongside the actual smokiness. Serving type: bottle 12-18-2012

Pours a deep black with a lasting brown head. Aroma of dark roasted caramel malt and smoked barbeque pit essence. Taste is sweet dark mild roasted caramel malt and a flavorful smoked barbeque notes with some mild bitterness and a lingering smoked flavor on the end. Palate is a medium body, smooth with moderate carbonation. This brew is quite good only wish it had a stronger smoked aroma. Overall a very well made, tasty and flavorful brew.
