JohnQPublic (196), Brooklyn, New York, USA Mar 11, 2008 Updated: May 24, 2008 Growler from Bierkraft, Brooklyn. Medium tan head. Aroma of smoke, some dark roasted malt, coffee. Smokey earthiness is the primary taste characteristic, some roasted malt underneath. Dry finish emphasizes smoke. Drank in Sam Adams’ new Boston lager glass, which may have overemphasized the smokiness. Usually more of a fan of rauchbiers such as Schlenkerla, so it isn’t that I hate smoke beers.
dalekliz (206), San Diego, California, USA Sep 28, 2008 Sampled from a growler at RBSG 08, with thanks to Padrefan. Pours a reddish-brown with a tan ring. Very sweet and smoky aroma, of malt and dark fruit. Taste is also both sweet and smoky and lingers nicely. Really great smoked porter. Swolf3 (80), Elkton, Maryland, USA Sep 27, 2008 On tap. Poured pitch black with nice tan head. Aroma was very smoky, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is like eating a BBQ, very smoky, and little coffe and chocolate. Finished smooth, a nice smoked porter. imadeadguy (155), From NJ, now in Clovis, California, USA Aug 27, 2008 Tap. Pour is deep black with white/brown frothy head. Aronas of roasted malt, coffee, and smoke. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, smoke, and malt. Very surprised that I enjoyed this one and I dont like smoked beers at all. Only thing that I thought was wrong, was the body. A little too thin. NIce job CL! Rogueone (365), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bottle: You know how some beers can be smoked to where they taste like campfire, or have an ashy or mild salt-like quality to them? Well, this one is straight up meat tray. MEAT TRAY. Not even one of the fancy ones from HoneyBaked Ham, just one of the ones that is like $8.88 at Wal-Mart. IrishBoy (2158), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 8, 2008 Sample at RBSG from PadreFan I guess; Nose is chocolate and smoke; black with a small tan head; flavor of roasty coffee, chcolate, and a very light hop bitterness.
