| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2010 Bottle thanks to hbmason...thanks Tim! - Pours deep amber with a foamy, off-white head. Aroma is sweet, dark fruit with a bit of lemon, booze, and real sweet malty notes. Sweet cherries come through in the taste, with big sweet malt, lemon, honey, and dark roast on the finish. It’s a bit syrupy, and the fruity sweetness is a bit too much for my tastes. Still complex and interesting, this was just a little off the mark for me. thirdeye11 (979), Texas, USA

Pours brown with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit and Belgian yeast with a little bit of tartness. Flavor is caramel malt and dark fruit. You get a little bit of tart fruit in the flavor as well as some Belgian yeast characters that you expect in a dubbel. Medium body and medium carbonation. AtlAggie (160), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Pours a slightly murky reddish brown. Aroma strong of bread, yeast, sweet malts, and dark fruit. Big dark fruit in the flavor--plum, fig, dark cherry and prune, all over a malty backbone. Sweetness is mellow, however, not cloying, and reminiscent of a good aged port. Lingering yeasty breadiness on the finish, and the slightest twinge of hops adding some bitterness. Really tasty, good winter drink. madmitch76 (1100), , Essex, England

A little sour, smooth, a little milk chocolate in the undertone. Some banana in the lead up to the dry slightly spicy finish. Well joined up. Jow (45), New York, USA
