On Draft at Blind Tiger during the CL event with Andy, Max, J, and streets. Pours a golden body with thin white lacing. Aroma is sour fruit, and a restrained tart character. Mouthfeel is nice, starts out with pleasant floralness, oak, tart fruit, but ends with more of a dry, graininess and corn.

On tap at the Blind Tiger for their Captain Lawrence event. Pours a lightly hazed gold with a very thin hint of a white head. Sweet lemony funk on the nose, soft funk and an herbal touch. Medium bodied, funky and sour, but still gentle. Corn and grain, wheat, toasty and sweet. Gentle funkiness and some brett. Good funk on the finish, soft musk and light lemony acid, touches of sweetness and grain.

(Old BA rate - cask at RnH late September 2009) Poured with almost no head whatsoever; murky yellows brown color that was absolutely still. Sour apples; little funky; vinegary; fresh light fruits/green grapes in the aroma. Sour; balsamic vinegar; nice acidity; little touch of light fresh fruit sweetness; savory; delicious ale! Medium to fairly full for the style; no carbonation really (cask); coating. Wonderfully nice drinking and was especially a treat on cask

Gravity cask at Barcade. Pours a hazy amber with a thin white head. Smells of grapes, funky, sour, dry. Tastes dry and sour with some acidic hints and grape tannins on the finish.

Cask at Rattle’n’Hum. Bitterish, rhubarb, waxy, sour grape, grain silo aroma. Very grainy, nutty flavor, with a lemony sourness. Balsamic vinegar and orange zest is apparent as well. Nice, full body. This has that distinct, nutty, grainy Captain Lawrence sourness that most all of his sours do. I’m not quite sure where it comes from but it is quite interesting and fairly unique.

Gravity keg at barcade. Poured a cloudy med amber. Sour nose. A bit thin in the mouthful. Nicely soured some dried fruits and a bit acidic. I also tasted a hint of corn that I did not care for.

Cask @ Barcade! Reason i went out of my way to attend the event. Red golden pour with no head and almost no carbonation Very enjoyable aroma: grape, and other fruit notes and distinguishably sour. Flavor is has a sweet note to combine with its funky sour base. Nice!

Cask at Rattle N Hum. Deep ruby tinted amber pour. Lightly hazy and almost still carbonation. The nose is tart and quite grapey with a little bit of sour cherry as well. Light oaky vineousness. The palate is soft and the beer is much less tart than it smells. There is a sort of strange, lightly astringent graininess that dominates the palate. There is a bit of fruity sourness and a fairly soft acetolactic sourness. Grapey with quite a bit of residual sweetness. Lightly balsamic tartness on the back as well. Very nice.

Cask, aged for 2 years on oak with Cabernet grapes added. This beer Rocks. Pours an amber brune body with a thin tan lacing. Vinous, lush grapes and skins; woody peachy with a low acidity. Sour grapes with hints of balsamic and tart finish. Awesome!

Cask at Rattle ’n’ Hum: Murky/muddy maroon brown with a fading off white film. The aroma is nice with acetic and lactic acidity- vinous notes with a touch of tart cranberry like character and mild toasted vanilla-ish oak. Crisp lively body with a cleansing acidic feel. The flavor is vinous, tart and fruity with notes of passion fruit and tart currant. There’s also a mildly sweet oak presence to provide some tannins and round out the acidic body. A well done sour, especially for a cask version.
