crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA Aug 22, 2007 Thanks to SecretSanta. Golden orange pour with a huge white head. Aromai s belgian spice, sugar and very phenolic yeast. Flavor is dominated by the spicy yeast with candi sugar, lemon, orange, coriander and a ton of wheat. Very spicy and phenolic with the yeast dominating this beer. bgburdman9 (822), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 9, 2007 I thought this was an excellent variation of a tripel. Popped the cap and it started to gush a little bit. Aroma was really hoppy and had some lemony citrus to it. Flavor was intesnse but light at the same time. Flavorful but still dry enough to keep your mind off the sweetness. Pretty tastey beer. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Aug 3, 2007 Decent sized head of fine off white bubbles. Awesome carbonation that keeps a thin head on the brew for the duration! Nice and fruity aroma with some pears, lemon, spicy herbal notes and some dry malts. Color is a dark gold. Big alcphol presence in the flavor. Warms big time. Sweetand malts with more herbal hops notes and lemon. On the dry side with some fruit just not as much as the aroma. Dry and pasty finish with a good lingering bitterness. A damn good and powerful triple. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 1, 2007 750mL, no date. Hazy golden with a two finger frothy white head, pretty good retention. Nose of pineapple, banana, apricot, as well as white pepper, some citrus and herbal hops, with a good amount of Belgian yeast in the background. Doesn’t smell all too sweet. Flavor is quite tasty will a stronger hop presence (bitterness and flavor) than the aroma led on. Still quite fruity, and the Belgian yeast still hangs in the background. Semi dry finish with bitterness peaking around a 5 (out of 10). Alcohol is present in the flavor and in the back of the throat, though never detracts from the beer itself. Highly carbonated with a medium to full body. An excellent hoppy tripel. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Aug 1, 2007 Bottle. Though not typical of most tripels I’ve had, this stuff ain’t bad. I get a lot more fruits in this, like a fruit salad really. In fact, too many fruits that I’d like in this style. It’s dry and not too sweet. It sort of reminds me of the pineapple in his Cuvee. Great appearance in the glass. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jul 30, 2007 RBSG 2007 Grand Tasting. Murky yellow with a bubbly white head. Orange citrus nose, bread, tropical fruit. Fruity flavors balanced by a healthy serving of citrus hop. Good, but I couldn’t really get into it. Would like to try again. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA Jul 25, 2007 Thanks to JohnC for sharing this one. A fruity sweet offering, with some bitter hang to back it up. Off-style but enjoyable, not a bad effort. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Jul 24, 2007 Lively golden color, cloudy and thick. Perfect head retention. Aroma of green apples soaked in honey and crème brulee. A distant haze of farmhouse stink amidst the lively, citrusy appropriation of the Amarillo hops. Unpredictable and lively taste of cotton candy, vodka, white pepper and vanilla bean rum. Alcohol commands respect. Sour fruit esters give it a champagne sentiment to temper the force. Yeast presence is also imposing in a pristine Belgian fashion. Finishes on a sweet, sticky flourish of candied almonds and walnuts. Palate boasts thickness and resolve with an arrogant, full, hoppy texture – this is the most obvious American-ism. If there’s such a thing as ‘cutting edge,’ this would be it. Dynamic, interesting, and different. Thanks Andy!
