Commercial Description:
This beer is an American adaptation to the classic Belgian style of beer known as a Tripel. Historically Tripels were brewed to have a very light golden color, a moderate hop presence, and be around 9% alcohol. But we are not in Belgium, so I decided to crank up the hops, dry hop the beer with American Amarillo hops, and brew it to 10% ABV. This is our American Tripel, enjoy. Sensory Profile: Enjoy in a goblet or wine glass. Tropical fruit and honey are the two biggest aromas coming from this lively brew. While the hop bitterness is not as powerful as an IPA, the hop flavor melds nicely with the fruity flavors created by the imported Belgian yeast strain used. Food Pairing: This beer goes great with roasted vegetables, fish and rotisserie chicken. And it can be used as a aperitif before dinner with shrimp cocktail.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, white, fully lasting. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, toasted grain), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, apricot), with notes of dried pineapple and other candied fruits, honey, pepper, alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Really tasty stuff. A little too sweet, maybe, but very nice.

Bottled. Beer is slightly cloudy with with a medium, white, frothy, diminishing but mostly lasting head. Clingy lacing
The aroma is as billed; hoppy without loosing the triple. Malty with a light note of toasted grain, trace of caramel; Moderately hoppy with notes of resin/pine; Yeasty with a light note of basement; Moderate note of honeyish, banana/clove, light vanilla, wood, alcohol.
The flavor is lean. Moderately bitter, lightly acidic, lightly sweet with a long, light/moderately bitter, trace sweet, lightly acidic finish. Warm.
The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively/fluff.
Quite successful and really enjoyable.

750 from hopdog enjoyed with the fam on the 4th of July. Hazy golden-orange with a big, fluffy white head. Nose is surprisingly hoppy with lots of tropical fruits, some coriander, and belgian yeast. Flavor is incredibly smooth for its gravity with hops playing a predominate role alongside belgian yeast and spices. A nice and different tripel from CL.

Yellow-gold color with a white thin and persistent head. Pepper and other spices in the nose with some belgian fruit yeast notes. The flavour was pretty good, sweet and fruity, well carb’d and a hint of alcohol finish it.

Sampled from 750 ml bottle in Montreal on Glouglouburp’s roof at the tiggmtl-returns/MartinT leaves for Japan party, June 17 2007. Bright, translucent gold in the glass, with a bit of lasting snowy head, a bit of lacing....strongly herbal aroma, white pepper and thyme and oregano all distinctly and powerfully present, a bit of tropical fruit, faint dryish/lightly farmy yeast notes....very sweet and fruity (sweet apples, apricots) on the tongue, touches of honey, a fairly light and by no means inappropriate level of alcohol....prickly carbonation, smooth mouthfeel, and a long, lightly toasty/burnt finish....very solid and drinkable tripel that really belies its strength.

tasted "on air" during the "2:40" tasting at www.wfmu.org with Scott Williams on 6/29. deep dark hazy golden color with a massive thick foamy head - just pouring into a tulip glass was 70% foam on the first pour. aromas of sweet candy sugar malt, maybe some faint dried pineapple rings, but also yeasty and hoppy done american style. this is reminding me of the Houblon IIPA that LaChouffe did. flavor is dryish and lightly sweet candy sugar malt, yeasty, with some piney hop and light spice/fainter tropical fruit. good and lively carbonation. dry bready malt and light bitter hop in the finish.

Very good hop aroma, especially for a Belgian ale. Flavor is sweet and yeasty, some spices, light coriander. Yeast is definitely Belgian. The best tripel I have had in a long time.

750 ml bottle shared with rebelbeerguy. This beer poured a super hazy yellowy/orangey/brown with a HUGE white head. The body reminded me of apple cider from the haziness. Aroma is very floral and fruity with lots of yeast as well. Flavor was pleasant with an overall fruity yeasty flavor. Palate was a little dry which is not my favorite and probably why I didn’t rate this higher.
