Commercial Description:
This beer is an American adaptation to the classic Belgian style of beer known as a Tripel. Historically Tripels were brewed to have a very light golden color, a moderate hop presence, and be around 9% alcohol. But we are not in Belgium, so I decided to crank up the hops, dry hop the beer with American Amarillo hops, and brew it to 10% ABV. This is our American Tripel, enjoy. Sensory Profile: Enjoy in a goblet or wine glass. Tropical fruit and honey are the two biggest aromas coming from this lively brew. While the hop bitterness is not as powerful as an IPA, the hop flavor melds nicely with the fruity flavors created by the imported Belgian yeast strain used. Food Pairing: This beer goes great with roasted vegetables, fish and rotisserie chicken. And it can be used as a aperitif before dinner with shrimp cocktail.

5/07/2009: Captain Lawrence Xtra Gold American Tripel Ale produces tons of fluffy white white foam in the glass. After letting it settle down (or pouring it a little more carefully), a nice, clear, golden liquid with an surprisingly light level of carbonation appears. The aroma is just a little sweet with plenty of what my brain is saying must be orange peel and corriander. This beer is airy on the palate (a bit more carbonated than the appearance lets on) and sweet with the welcomed Tripel alcohol strength. Some fresh fleshy fruit flavors like faint peach and cantelope strart to show up when it warms. There is a good spicy yeastiness in the finish. Overall this is a really good, strong, moderately sweet beer that fits the bill what I like in a Tripel.

1 pint, 9.4 fl. oz. bottle from via trade with hopdog. Thanks Steve! Rating #221 for this beer.

A hazed amber ale with a thin wite head. In aroma, a pleasant herbal mint, with honey, notes of Brett and warming alcohol. In mouth, a great Orval style ale with herbal qualities, warming alcohol, good caramel malts, not too sweet. Rich and pleasing. Thanks Goldorak! Sampled June 4 2009.

Big thanks to puzzl. Pours a hazy gold with an enormous, open, exuberant white head that leaves gobs of lace on the glass. Aroma of concentrated pear with a distinct champagne dryness. Flavor is pear drop, slightly marred by being more unripe than ripe pear. Underneath, a smooth, full-bodied malt backbone and high-gravity warmth oddly complements a flavor profile suggestive of a lighter, more refreshing beer. Nonetheless delicious.

Courtesy of MCLK. Pours clear gold with nice off white head. The aroma is candi sugar, mild green apple, prunes and raisins. The taste is smooth sweetness to start and moves quickly into apple, prune and raisin notes. By midway a modest level of black pepper surfaces from the depths. Smooth and tasty brew.

Aroma of lots of green apple, lemon, earthy hop bitterness, some grain, light dusty yeast and a touch of sweet yeast too. Pours yellowish golden, hazy with a huge head. Flavors of mostly green apples and lemons, underneath there are notes of yeast, dust, and a good bitterness that rounds out the finish. Perhaps a touch of pepper. The hop presence is earthy and a touch oxidized as this one would have probably been very hoppy if it was fresh. Noticeable alcohol warmth in the finish. A little over carbonated for my liking but still a decent brew all in all.

Thanks MCLK for the share. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Nose is pepper, apple, sugar, some brett (maybe), and some caramel. Flavor is pepper, malt, lemon, red apple, and some cloves. Flavor lingers with malt and pepper.
