daknole (2810), Plantation, Florida, USA Dec 12, 2008 bottle. Slightly cloudy gold color with a nice whitish head. Aroma is very hoppy and full of citrus notes with some yeasty notes. Flaovr is malty, juicy and hoppy. A very interesting take on a triple indeed. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 1, 2008 Pours gold in color with plenty of carbonation and a decent inch of head on the pour. Smell is juicy, citrusy hops and some belgian yeast.
Taste is a perfect balance of belgian and IPA. This is the first of the style that I have thoroughly enjoyed. The hops are very citrusy and work well in this Tripel. Plenty of carbonation and bitterness in the hops that create a wonderful mouth feel. Wonderful beer and you never notice the 10% ABV. I could drink this regularly, very well done and enjoyable. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Nov 30, 2008 (10/26/08) Draught at The Ginger Man in New York. Slightly hazy deep golden to amber color with a small, quickly-diminishing, white head. Aroma of fruits (peach, apricot and apple hints), some yeast, a bit of malt and spicy notes. Sweetish spicy flavor with a bit of caramel, some fruitiness, yeast and a dry spicy finish. Medium-bodied. OK but nothing exciting. eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Nov 29, 2008 Bottle from GMCC2181. Poured a pale golden color, decent to generous sized white head. The aroma was apples, grains, some yeast. Flavor followed suit, apples, grains, yeast, dry grassy type hop finish, light-fruited candy. Mouthfeel was light and dry, crisp finish, good stuff. Thanks, Gabe! Cloudy golden orange pour with a big foamy white head. Strong apricot and milder citrus. Big taste of fresh tart crisp apples. Light bready yeast. Good balance of sweet/yeasty/slight sourness. Nice floral notes. Pretty boozy, which I found to be one of the few drawbacks of this beer. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 16, 2008 thanks nhorween. pale bronze color, minimal white rim of head., slightly hazy. apricots and light fruit, honeyed almonds, a tiny bit of funk. surprisingly acerbic sourness. drank with deep dich pizza it tastes super alcoholic. great example of the style, pretty dry tho. wow, 10%? that’s surprising. very nicely hidden. BelgianBeerGal (1277), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle via trade. I’ll take this as an American twist on the Belgian basic. Good, but different. A little more bitterness and hop characteristic than typical. Missing some of the expected sweetness as a balancer. Still good though. Honestly did not notice a HINT of the 10 ABV; very well hidden.
