bp (275), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 12, 2008 Bottle: opened it up and the beer started rushing towards the top and almost out before I could start to fill my glass, pours a clear, golden amber with a thick frothy white head, aroma is yeasty with maybe a little honey as well, taste is sweet upfront and then very dry in the finish, has a bit of a grapefruit type taste, warms a bit as it goes down to let you know the ABV is there.
blankboy (2562), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 12, 2008 Bottle (750ml) -- courtesy of SecretSanta. This was a leaker, it arrived with half the bottle gone. I’m definitely rating it anyway but no worries as my friend has a bottle of this as well, so I’ll rerate it for sure. Let’s see how this held up. Pours a hazy dark orange-gold with a small but lasting fizzy white head. Slightly mild aroma of spices, yeast, grapes and apples, mild grassy hops and plenty of sweet bready malt. Flavour of sweet malt, grassy & resiny hops, candi sugar, spices, yeast and fruit. Dry, bitter finish. Some alcohol but not enough to be detrimental. Not very carbonated but I think that’s cause it’s gone flat from the leaking. This was still very good, I’m anxious to see how good it will be next time! Even in this state this was still a winner. ucusty (914), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 9, 2008 Thanks to JoeMcphee for this! Light hazy orange pour with a fizzy off-white head. Floral with a slightly tart aroma. Zesty citrus flavor with notable hint of hops. Alcohol extremely well masked mabel (1583), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2008 [1462-20080531] 1pt9.4floz bottle. Bit of petrol lemon aroma. Murky, light orange grey body with a small long-lasting foamy off-white head. Sweet grainy lemon yeast flavour is a little boozy. Medium body is sweet. Interesting to try, is a little sickly sweet.
(Post-Mondial Tasting) Beerlando (1237), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 3, 2008 Pours a hazy golden-orange color with a foamy, off-white head. Sudsy lacing mostly rejoins the body. The aroma shows banana esters, vinous white grapes, grassy hops, and some light lemongrass citrus notes. Smells very bright and crisp for a tripel, no doubt due to the grape notes and extensive hopping. Flavors are quire nice, showing a unique blend of sweet golden fruits, dry grassy hops, and zesty citrus notes. Medium-full bodied and silky, it drinks quite easy for a 10% beer. Very nice overall. An innovative take on a style that tends to be boring and one dimensional. redlight (1042), Winter Park, Florida, USA Aug 1, 2008 Spicy malty aroma with cinnamon, chardonnay grapes (i agree phillybeer!) with some vanilla. Pours golden blonde with a thick white head. Smooth with a lot of belgian yeast spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, very smooth with grassy notes and great carbonation! Thanks Beerlando!
