theisti (1084), Leawood, Kansas, USA Apr 7, 2008 750 ml bottle generously shared by tjthresh. Pour is clear golden with a billowing white head. Visible carbonation bubbles. Head settles to a nice, rocky - big bubble with nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of bright citrus and apple hoppiness. There is also Belgian sugar yeastiness. In the very back of the nose, there is a soft biscuit maltiness. Very complex nose. Taste is big bitter sweetness in the front, fading into a grassy yeastiness. Carbonation is present and lightens the otherwise full palate. Thanks for sharing this one Tom, and thanks for sending it to KC Jason!
presario (2431), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Oct 6, 2008 American Tripel? Belgian IPA...? Lightly clouded dark yellow. Delicious golden aroma. Dusty juicy grapefruit Tripel. Pretty clean taste. Lots of hops. A big hoppy Belgian IPA!! Bungalo22 (304), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Oct 5, 2008 Had from the bottle - I am so happy they are doing that now - and poured into a snifter. It pours a cloudy, unfiltered looking yellow with a thin head. The aroma to me it dominated by citrus. A very very strong citrus aroma that follows through to the taste. The taste is complex bring the citrus, some earthy tastes, fruits like bannanas and it is sweet while sipping but ends a touch bitter. It gets better and better as it goes on. can knock you on your butt if you aren’t careful. lemasney (297), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Sep 28, 2008 Style and Glass: Abbey Tripel; Trappist glass, tulip

Aroma: very nice, fruit, spices, hops, burn, alcohol. 10 out of 10.
Visuals: okay label design, golden, bright, hazy, thin white head, great lace. 5 out of 5.
Taste: well balanced, high malt, medium hops, great strength, master craft. 10 out of 10.
Palate: high quality, smooth texture, long easy finish. 4 out of 5.
Overall: An absolutely delicious beer, easy to drink despite the ABV. I would get it again, but it’s so damn expensive, I doubt I will. Expertly crafted. 18 out of 20. bdigi66 (456), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle: Poured a pale orange with a sizeable white/cream head. Nose had notes of ripe apples, floral hops, candied sugar and some biscuit malt tones. Medium bodied with lively carbonation...flavors consisted of a sweet malt backbone with the candied sugar notes showing up and a wonderful "true" apple flavor. Some mild floral and bitter notes on the finish. Not as good as Brass Monkey’s Tenacious Apple Tripel but still quite good. JPDIPSO (4267), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Sep 16, 2008 Lightly hazed dark golden color with a taller, wispy off-white head that collapses in a relatively short period of time. Sweet grapefruit and pale malts dominate the aromas. Orange blossom honey and a bit of spice and pineapple-kiwi also in the nose. Quite enjoyable. Pale malt start, but a Emeril type BAM shortly after. Light fruit and flambé’ pierce the tongue like a ample pour of kirchwasser on a pan of seared bananas. Spice of the yeast, hops and alcohol all come together to make this a brew that demands some attention. Verses the American tripel descriptor, I’d consider it a Belgian tripel with an American attitude. Some licorice comes out as it warms. Linger is a bit too sharp and unforgiving. Not sure that there is a place for an imperial tripel, but this is a nice strong example of one.
