I really wanted to like this beer... especially being subjected to Tsingtao and other Chinese dreck beers... but I really disliked it. As compared to Tsingtao, which is bland and unappealing, but otherwise unoffensive, I found this beer from Slow Boat - and many of the others from their brewery - to have a very strange, if not offensive, taste. It was not just an awful aftertaste, but it was a terrible first taste, too. Itís hard to describe what the taste was - but it was consistent among several of their brews. The closest I can come to in description is a pungent cheese. With that said, I give full credit to the brewmasters/owners for making a go of this in a place where so few beer options exist, and I am sure that with their passion for brewing, theyíll get it all sorted out.

Really impressed with this local micro.! Color is much darker than a pale but hops are spot on. Great lasting head. Detect a slight grapefruit aroma.

Enjoyable but quite bitter and dark I preferred the lighter beer from Slow Boat.

On tap at Bookworm Beijing. Amber colour with white head. Hoppy citrus aroma, with some fruity malt sweetness. A solid APA.

Good God I love this beer. Itís just home for me. The head is thick with fine bubbles with a delightful citrus grapefruit aroma. nutty malt notes with a handsome helping (but not overly so) of hops. At 5.5% itís not the highest alcohol beer Iíve ever had which means that I didnít stop at one. Excellent flagship ale!
