wimpie133 (40), Brugge, Belgium Jun 14, 2009 Can, 33 cl. Let’s start rather positively: the beer looks good: golden, celar colour, with many bubbles rising and a little dirty white to grey, but stable head. If you smell you encounter a grainy, but also a malty smell. But the smell is and strange and unfresh. Than the taste: if you ever wondered what you would experience if you take a glass of beer, fill it for the half with beer and the other half with water, well, I think Cara Pils comes very close to that experience. The taste is light grainy, but flat and... watery. There is some dryness, but a bad one. But the overall taste you have is beer dilluted with water. Maybe refreshing, but as a beer you can’t get away with that, even if the taste isn’t ’bah!’ like I had with the (Dutch) Kaiser Pils. Let’s say it’s a bad but in the end drinkable beer. harrisoni (6125), Ashford, Kent, England Mar 20, 2009 From a can from an all night shop in Antwerp shared in my hotel room with Mesandsim. Palest lager I’ve ever had. Thin white head. Bad sweaty empty, grainy aroma. Really bad. I mean it has no body or flavour, touch of lemon on end that’s it.
OleR (1750), Oslo, Norway Mar 15, 2009 330 ml can from a Belgian supermarket. A thin greyish head upon a pale golden colored body. Initial aroma of dough and vegs. Then some whiffs of acidulous fruits and hayish hops.Taste is grainy malts, rather unfresh. Some stale bittering hops underneath. Body is light plus. Short dryish ending. One of a dozen. sayravai (3533), Helsinki, Finland Mar 11, 2009 (Canned) Clear, paleish golden with a small, white head. Corny-malty aroma with light acidity, and clear cheap adjuncts presence. Grainy-starchy, lightly white-vinous-sourish flavor with hints of pear, and not much barley. More like cereals in liquid form. Light, but not quite watery body with lowish carbonation. This seems to be the lowest you can go in Belgium: the (probably) cheapest adjunct brew in the land of (practically) free beer... Bloekie (74), Belgium Mar 7, 2009 From a can. Really watery beer with hardly any remarkabilty what so ever. Only reason to drink this is for the cheapness. faroeviking (5431), The Autonomous Beer Republic, Faroe Islands Dec 9, 2008 Can. Clear quite thin golden colour. Rubber grainy aroma. Thin mouthfeel. Grainy strangely yeasty flavour. The finish though is pleasantly bitter. thewolf (4977), Kolding, Denmark Dec 5, 2008 Can. Thank you, yespr. Pours pale, light golden with a small, creamy, white, film head. Aroma is sweet, malty and lots of sugar. Weak, lightly watery mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, some corn, maltiness and light citric hops. Weak. Pinball (2068), Allerød, Denmark Dec 5, 2008 can33cl, aroma slight cereral , alc.
appears clear yellow, white head. flavor made me think watery but a bit belgian spices, malt, slight hops, sugar, sawdust, bitterness. nevertheless it was not particularily good. i rate it above 10 overall simply because it actually tasted of something. lots of worse beers out there.
