2.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Drinking from a 340ml bottle. A clear yellow beer with a normal white head that doesn’t last long.
Hay and bitter from the hops in the aroma, not so special.
The taste is like any other pilsner, it’s medium bitter not much more. High carbonated. Nice beer for a warm day.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Nothing special. Aroma of boiled sweet corn, from the previous day, and a bit of Saaz. Very sweet, cloying, flat, pretty much crap. It could still be saved for a marinade.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Eurolager. Carbonated, without taste brew. Pours golden and has too much carbonation, hence a lot of head which goes away quickly. Nothing special.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Golden straw with heavy carbonation. Bread, hay refreshing in South African summer but watery and nothing special. Consumed in large volumes in this country and it is definitly quantity rather than quality with this one.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draught at Radisson Blu Waterfront, Cape Town. Probably the best ’lager’ I had during a recent trip to SA. Which doesn’t say a great deal about the others.

Bottle from Out of Africa, Norwich. Clear pale gold colour with a small white head. Some aroma of malt, gass and hay. Moderately sweet, thin body, quite high carbonation. Bitter sweet finish. OK, nothing more.

1.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Whipped eggwhite-like head, rather huge but fast receding over metallic golden beer. Faintly hoppy, bit grassy, strawaroma. Watery grainy to malty flavour. Finish bereft of any real flavour, but some bitterness (tad metallic) keeps hanging around, God knows from where. Spritzy. Empty. Bweuk. Txs to the bringers!
