black label is the best, people dont like it because of natural stigma.."it was mainly drunk by black mine workers and is shebeens, but people like me...love it, its sometime sweet, and goes down the throat smoothly especially on a cold winter night when its extremely chilly with some winds...this beer is the best, ...tho i had to stop drinking it...its not for th elight drinkers...if u are heavy into beer then black is for u....if u want weak stuff...u are free to shop around.....as for getting drunk cheaply...who wudnt want to get drunk for a cheaper price....but that not the main reason....i have drunk many beers and the rate at which i get drunk...as long as it a beer does noot really vary...maybe a one can difference.... viva black label....

What a beer! At the end of the day nothing satisfies a thirst quite like this great beer. As mentioned elsewhere it is an African beer, and needs to be consumed and enjoyed in Africa

Why is Black Label getting such a bad rap? Must be due to most people here being used to a European variant and flavour of beer. We dont like ales and beers with fruity flavours, all natural. I see Windhoek Lager has got just as bad a rating. I cant believe this. I think the beer needs to be rated more objectively, perhaps a bonus point for being a macro brewery?

Sounds like a lot of people are missing this beer for what it is: a beer whose taste compliments that manly feeling you get after a hard days physical labour on a hot summers day + ABV to match. Unless you have drunk this in africa and know the feeling, your opinion probably does not count

Pretty smooth for a cheap beer. The aroma is pretty weak. A good bargain beer

nice clean golden colour with nice thick head. Flowery aroma, sweet malty taste. One f the better South African beers.

Bottled at Misty Mountain, Long Tom Pass, Oos-Transvaal. Golden coloured. Malty and bready aroma. Soft bready flavour with some positive maize notes. Medium to full bodied. Well balanced and smooth. My favourite of the industrial SA beers.
