jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands May 4, 2003 Aroma of earth and dirt. Pale golden, white head, fair lace. Not much flavors, soft, little thin, some malts. Watery! Cobra (1060), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA Apr 28, 2003 Definitely not a great example of an American lager. Pale is the correct term for this beer. Pale in color, pale in taste, pale in
comparison to everything out there. My batch was way over carbonated. Smelled like tin foil. Looked like a watered down
Bud. Not much head on this critter, either. No discernable hops aroma or taste, for that matter. I guess it was good back in the
day, but not now, that much is certain. dhurtubise (568), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Apr 8, 2003 Pretty standard stuff for an international lager. At least it's pretty cheap up here in Canada- costs the same as Lucky Lager. WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 2, 2003 A session beer, under 5% ABV, so you could have more than one, if you wanted more than one, which you won't. No mouth, no taste, no nose, no hops, no malt ... Hysteria (38), USA Mar 6, 2003 Pale golden color with a bit of a head. Slight hoppy nose. Has a balance between hops and malt albeit weak. Nothing offensive in this brew. Doesn't pretend to be a great beer, good if you plan on drinking a lot at one sitting. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Dec 21, 2002 Updated: Sep 12, 2006Canned(500ml). -good, nothing more
Canned(500ml). -golden coloured, medium white head, slight malty with almost no hops, watery. Frank (1064), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 11, 2002 Like Ringo before me, I’m glad I finally know where to put this rating. This is one of the best super-cheap beers you can get. Smooth, almost flavorless but still refreshing. Very pale color with no head but it’s best out of the can where you can’t see it anyway. A friend and I used to buy a 12 of this and a 12 of Pabst Blue Ribbon. After we’d each finished off the better part of our respective 12-packs, we’d start mixing them together to make what we called Black and Blues. Ringo (959), Loveland, Colorado, USA Dec 4, 2002 OK I can finally rate this, according to Oakes this is the basic Black Label. I’ve had the US, the UK, and the Canadian, they are all pretty bad, but cheap. And you feel better about drinking it than you would for Schaefer, for example. I liked it best when it was in the red and black can.
