mkb (1), salem, Massachusetts, USA does not count Aug 19, 2008 I don’t want to waste real beer on cooking, so whenever I need more BBQin’ beer, I quickly calculate the absolute cheapest beer per ounce and Carling wins every time. In the 15-pack I bought, it was about 50 cents a can! I consider Carling a 2nd-tier beer, alongside PBR and Narragansett, and above stuff like Busch Light, but really I never actually drink the stuff, just use it for boiling hot dogs, sticking in a chicken, or pouring into a water pan for smoking. If only there were a rating for VALUE. KimJohansen (6678), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jul 23, 2008 Sweet fruity aroma with mild caramel notes. Sweet flavor with fruity and hoppy notes that finishes it bitter. note666 (282), Eindhoven, Netherlands Jul 12, 2008 had it on holiday in England 09-07-’08. 500 ml can. yellow colour. fading white head. metallic tatste. matt7215 (943), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Jun 14, 2008 ive held off rating this for a while now but after confirming that this is indeed where this rating should be put here it is.<P> 341 ml bottle from the beer store. pours pale gold with a mid white head and steady carbonation. aromas are sweet lager malts. flavours are more malty then anything else. a damn fine lager. this is my go to beer store brew and im never let down. EFC1878 (291), Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Jun 13, 2008 Draught available widely in UK. A truly woeful effort and always has been. Smells disgusting and tastes of nothing. Beer of choice for morons in the UK. PilsnerPeter (2598), Flushing, New York, USA Jun 1, 2008 Can at the Levee: It’s difficult to resist a beer of this caliber when it’s $4 for a shot of bourbon and a can of this stuff. Good deal, and I got a rating with my buzz. Pale golden. Adjunct/husk/corn aroma. Thin and fizzy with almost no bitterness. A mess. yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark May 24, 2008 From tap at Den Engelske in Fredericia as Carling Extra Cold - served at 2°C. Pours pale yellow and clear with dense chalk white head. Mild bitter pilsner aroma. Flavour is medium dry and slight cornish with a light bitterness following. Ends medium bitter and dry. Not much different from any european lager. Boring yet clean and crisp. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA May 6, 2008 Heileman’s can. Ok, I must be the only non-hater of this beer. I actually thought it was pretty good and would consider buying a case to go camping with. Pours to a filtered pale yellow body with lots of visible carbonation and a tall, lasting frothy starch white head. The aroma has that corn and husky lager aroma with slight specialty malts and light floral hops. The flavor is actually not bad for a suspected premium lager. Corn flakes are crisp and it has a clean lager flavor. Very smooth flavor with no hints of nasties. The palate is medium-light bodied with a nice crispness and lingering mouth-watering feel. Nice simple hop bitterness. Surprising! I gave it a bunch of bonus points.
