It pours a clear golden yello colour into the glass with very little head. The aroma has a malty, earthy aroma...nothing spectacular. The mouthfeel is silky smooth and crisp with some mild carbonation that grabs the tongue in all the right places. The taste is that of a full bodied beer with a malty grainy flavour that lasts through the entire glass. Like the majority of macro lagers in North America, this beer is best enjoyed cold. It has some body to it and you can taste the hops in the finish. I think it is the same formula it was in the 1970s and back in the red / black can. When Heileman was brewing it in the white cans, I didn’t think it was very good at all. I’m not a beer snob and I hate anything imported or heavy so this is a great beer for me. Ver similiar to Miller High Life in that it has a tangy taste. Drink after putting in fridge for a day..into freezer for 15-20 minutes and then into a frosted glass. Great beer for a refreshing cool down. Hard to find in VA so I get it from MD or PA. Can be found in VA in Newport News or in MD in Rockville. Beer Guy99 (250), Maineville, Ohio, USA

The U.S. Black Label is quite different from its Canadian and British cousins. Different products in almost every country. The American version is now in the hands of Pabst. Still, for a very cheap beer, this is pretty good. Probably the best of the cheapest brews...and that includes natty light, Milwaukee’s Best, etc. I’ve found the hangovers aren’t as severe either so they must be doing something right. Mabel, another Black Label! Hell, for $7 you can get yourself a 15-pack that provides more than enough ammo to get you through a solid drinking evening. MrRoss (617), Delta, British Columbia, Canada

This is the first BL I’ve had since the mid seventies (yeah, I’m THAT old), and damned if I didn’t find it a hell of a lot better now than then. Decent head, even a bit of lacing, colour is not special but the aroma is quite respectably hopped, and the taste/mouthfeel/aftertaste are all quite palatable. Cheers!
