Its a cheap beer which is fairly drinkable. Not much flavour, but perfect for the Macro swill brigade.

This is a good yardstick. Doesn't tend to fluctuate in quality much, a bad pint is drinkable unlike other lagers (Eg. Fosters). One to look for first when approaching the bar - if they don't have anything better (Eg. Carlsberg Export, Bud, Harp), always a good choice. Reasonable out of cans, but unlikely to get you rinsed as a bollock as is not the strongest of contenders for the beer crown.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2008 Jan, 2003 Billy and his mates toasted marshmallows quietly by the fire in preparation for smacking up their bitches that evening. [1.1]
June, 2007 440ml can brewed at Coors UK, Burton. Carbonated. Very light tasting. Slightly metallic. Creamy cereal notes. Mild smudge of hop pellets in the finish. Nothing significantly offensive in the flavour, though totally lacking in pleasure, interest or character. [1.5]
Oct 2008 Keg at Command House, Chatham Glue off flavours. Some hop bite. Drinkable. [2.0]

Do folks still drink this?
Gassy, tasteless - a classic mass produced ’lager’.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Joeh (2036) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 7, 2002
Carling isn’t great, but it’s acceptable. Better than any American mass produced lager, obviously.
It’s not the sort of beer I would drink, even if it was free, though i usually do turn down most lager.

Why on earth should the British even try brewing pilsener/lager - they’re so much better at ales and stouts. If you after all, of some obscure reason, should choose to drink pils in England: Stick to the imports.
0.7 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20 fatherpierre (62) - Leeds, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2002
Poor. A beer to avoid unless it’s all that’s left in the fridge. Low grade, mass produced crap aimed at the mass palate. Many budget lagers are superior to this.
