Edition No. 4 – O’Hara’s Leann Folláin 8.1% abv
Edition no. 4 in the series is our highly acclaimed O’Hara’s Leann Folláin, winner of the Concours M Biere Pierre Celis Platinum Medal at the Mondial de la Biére September 2014 in France and Gold Medal winner at the Irish Whiskey Awards October 2014. Each swing top bottle is individually numbered and is one of only 5500 bottles produced.

To craft this beer, luxurious full bodied Leann Folláin stout was matured for 90 days in Irish whiskey barrels and conditioned in bottle to provide a gentle carbonation. During this time the dark chocolate flavours and well balanced bitterness of the stout combine with the essence of whiskey residing in the oak barrels. The finish is a sophisticated stout, rich and dark with the mild warmth of smooth Irish whiskey.

Great nose and great flavor, for 8.1% the beer is not hot and drinks easy. My understanding is that it is made in Old Bushmill’s Irish Whiskey barrels. Although it is a stout, it is more fluid to the pallet than most stouts.

Bottle at KŘ15. Citric and quite roasted aroma. Almost black colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is quite roasted with a faint hint of coffee. A little sweet but more than held in check by the alcohol.

Bottle with Matbli. Pours with a beige, very homogenous and extremely stable head that gives a very enjoyable lacing. An appearance of this beer is gorgeous. The aroma is of vanilla scents, barrel wood and milked coffee with some fruity esters (quite unexpected). Taste is built of sweetness, light sourness and bitterness. Very light whiskey finish and whiskey dryness in the aftertaste. A very good stout.

Shared bottle 750ml, pours dark brown almost black with beautifull strong pillowy beige head, very long lasting. Aroma of vanilla, esters with pear notes, oak wood and some coffee. Good balanced taste with light coffee bitterness, delicate sourness and some sweetness. In taste some whisky notes are noticable. General a nice stout.

Aroma: some barrel notes, alcohol, aldehyde. Appearance: brown color, thin beige head. Taste: medium herbal bitterness, roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, some weak barrel notes, alcohol. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation, whiskey finish. Overall: Strange combination of a moonshiner and FES.
