Edition No. 4 – O’Hara’s Leann Folláin 8.1% abv
Edition no. 4 in the series is our highly acclaimed O’Hara’s Leann Folláin, winner of the Concours M Biere Pierre Celis Platinum Medal at the Mondial de la Biére September 2014 in France and Gold Medal winner at the Irish Whiskey Awards October 2014. Each swing top bottle is individually numbered and is one of only 5500 bottles produced.

To craft this beer, luxurious full bodied Leann Folláin stout was matured for 90 days in Irish whiskey barrels and conditioned in bottle to provide a gentle carbonation. During this time the dark chocolate flavours and well balanced bitterness of the stout combine with the essence of whiskey residing in the oak barrels. The finish is a sophisticated stout, rich and dark with the mild warmth of smooth Irish whiskey.

Bottle. It pours a more or less black body under a dense, finger-thick beige head. Curtains. The aroma is a bit weak for a 8.1% Imp Stout, but nice. Cocoa, dark chocolate and some roasted malts. Not much impact from the whiskey. The flavor is pretty much the same, with a little bit more focus on the whiskey and dark chocolate. Salty licorice notes, some alcohol and a peaty touch. Full body and soft carbonation. Lasting finish. Not bad in any way this one, but I was expecting more. 141011

Bottle at KŘ15. Citric and quite roasted aroma. Almost black colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is quite roasted with a faint hint of coffee. A little sweet but more than held in check by the alcohol.

Bottle, bought @ YNWA Beershop, Kolding. Bottle number 488. Pours clear dark chestnut, bordering on black. Small, creamy, beige head. Aroma has chocolate, mild raisin, oak, mild smoke, touch of tar. Low carbonation, fat and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has good bitterness, liqourice, chocolate, coffee. Quite oaky that detracts a bit from the overall opinion. Mild whisky notes and some astringency. Good dryness primarily from the same astringency. But still quite nice.
