3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (2169) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 16, 2012
750ml bottle pours almost black in color with some lovely red highlights when held to a light source. Aromas of light roasted malts with chocolate and earthy notes. Taste is light roasted malty bitterness with a chocolatey malt sweetness with some citrusy and earthy hop bitterness leading to a dry finish. Light to medium body with decent carbonation and a pleasantly smooth mouthfeel. A very nicely done stout that I thoroughly enjoyed.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Chudwick (558) - Taylor Mill (KY), FRANCE - APR 4, 2012
750ml bottle - pours pitch black with nice tan head and instant lacing. Nose is roasted malts, coffee and peppermint (reminds me of a mint candy from Vichy, France), Flavor is much like the nose. taste is mainly sweet but ends on a bitter note. Flat, smooth and a dry finish. tasty for nothing to write home about.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Indra (2361) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - AUG 5, 2010
750ml bottle. Fully roasty, coffeeish aroma, featuring almost charred, black malts, dark chocolate, butternut, marshmallow, faint black olive, earthy hop and charcoal. Solid brown-black color with a very fine head. Flavor is equally roasty, with a faint amount of dark chocolate sweetness, smoke, burnt grain, some espresso and dark toffee. Actively carbonated and extremely dry on the palate, body is medium. Exemplary version of this style.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 corby112 (1904) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 18, 2010
750m bottle
Pours pitch black and completely opaque with only the slight hint of dark mahogany edges when held to a light source and a massive three finger frothy tan/coffee colored head. Excellent retention, only slowly fading into a lasting cap. Sporadic splotches of lacing left behind.
Depp, rich roasted malty aroma with hints of chocolate, coffee bean, toffee, oatmeal, hazelnut, caramel and subtle hops.
Slightly viscous medium body with a lot of roasted malt up front followed by a smooth, creamy lactic presence along with some sweet milk chocolate notes. Hints of roasted coffee bean, toffee, oatmeal, hazelnut, caramel and subtle earthy hops. Sweet with a very dry hoppy finish. Extremely quaffable.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 awiseman01 (469) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - APR 2, 2010
Bottle from Payless of 96th/69. Pours pitch black with slight brown edge and huge cakie tan head. Nose is creamy chocolate and slight dry roast malt. Flavor is relatively dry and earthy with a solid roasted malt backing, some chocolate notes and a minimal amount of lactose. Not bad, a little too dry for my tastes.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 coharahawk (162) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 17, 2010
750 mL swing-top bottle. Pours nearly black with two-finger tan head. Aroma is heavy with cocoa, some coffee notes, and a spiciness that is hard to describe (kinda like chili pepper). There’s also a tiny bit of piney hops hiding in the background. Right off the bat I notice the full body and smooth mouthfeel. Flavors are similar to the aroma with just a slight hint of alcohol in the finish. A nice stout.

Bottled. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt as well as chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, sweet and roasted malt, leading to a dry roasted finish. Thanks KimJohansen for sharing.
