Commercial Description:
10th anniversary limited edition
Reviving a tradition that had all but disappeared for over 150 years, the O'Hara family established a brewery in their home county of Carlow in south-east Ireland in 1996 producing beers of traditional Celtic and Irish origin, O'Hara's Irish Stout was born in 1998, winning the Championship Trophy and two gold medals at the International Millennium Brewing Industry Awards in 2000. The O'Hara's brand has now arrived at it's 10th anniversary. To mark that occasion we present as a limited edition O'Hara's Celebration Stout - rich in Irish malts balanced by a full bodied bitterness and delicate spicy aroma from Northdown and Fuggles hops with a luxurious chocolate finish.

Pours a pitch black with a frothy enthusiastic light tan head. Aroma features resiny hops, smooth chocolate milk notes and a hint of roast barley. On the palate there is sweet malt, smooth mouth filling chocolate and a lightly roasty finish with a lingering hop resin character. Over all impression is of a smooth velvety beer but one that should be more complex than it is.

750 pours black with a rather large tan head that clings to the glass in cobweb lace. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. The flavor is malty, dry, chocolate, and slight peat. The palate is medium bodied and lively. Overall, very nice and one of the better Dry Stouts I’ve had for some time.

I thought this was rather weak for a stout; but maybe I have just grown accustomed to the monsters like Stone and Old Rasputin, or even Rogue Shakespeare. Decent enough, I guess.

750 ml bottle bought at College Liquors in Grand Junction, Co, I’m almost out of beers from that trip! Opens with a huge pop from the swingtop. Pours a dark black color with a huge and creamy brown head, and lots of lacing. A very nice aroma; loads of roasted malts, chocolates, some light coffee. The taste is just a great dry stout; lots of roasted malts, a dry fruity finish, some dry coffee and milk chocolates. I’ll always love this type of beer, and this is a great example of this style.
