This stout has a robust flavour with a ful bodied and smooth mouth feel. The roast flavours lead to a dry espresso like finish. A generous addition of fuggles hops lead to a tart bitterness which mingles with the roast espresso flavours on the tongue.

Maybe it was just this bottle, but it had a sting - on taste and palate. Coffee, roasty, smoke, woody. Black, hazy body, frothy, brown head. Balanced, being lightly sour, sweet and bitter. Full bodied, creamy texture. Soft carbonation with abrupt finish. Must re-rate.

0.1 l on tap at ’The Shakespeare’ (Herdecke). Clear, very dark red to black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, light beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty aroma of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, a touch of hazelnut and some licorice. A little sweetish, quite bitter already, roasty-malty taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice and some hazelnut, followed by a medium long, rather roasty-bitter, quite dry finish with hints of ash. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!

Kawowe, intensywnie palone, ale do tego również całkiem słodkie. Końcówka jest kawowa. Czuć również kawową kwaskowość. Na plus genialna piana. Ułożone i gładkie.

0,33l Flasche. Schwarzes Bier mit schönem hellbraunem Schaum. Röstmalz Aroma. Chikoree und Kaffe. Ziemlich erdig. Sehr trockener Antrunk. Herb-bitterer Kaffe Geschmack. Wirklich trocken. Keine Süsse. Fast etwas pelzig auf der Zunge. Sehr bittere Schokolade im Abgang.

500ml bottle. Dark chocolate and coffee aroma. Typical stout appearance - pours jet black with a mid-sized brown/yellow head. Roasted coffee, dark chocolate and a touch of hoppy bitterness. Dry texture and a nicely balanced finish. Enjoyable.

Aroma: nice and pleasant aromas of coffee, Espresso, milked coffee, chocolate. Appearance: dark amber-deep brown color, thick super creamy tan head made of small bubbles. The beer is very dark but it seems totally clear. Average persistence. Not much lacing. Taste: very pleasant flavors of roasted malts, coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, lactose. Acidic notes from the roasted malts. Light-to-medium sweetness, medium-to-high bitterness, no sourness. Palate: medium body, creamy texture, slightly above average carbonation, long dry bitter finish of roasted malts and coffee. Overall: good flavors and aromas of espresso coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts. An acidic touch from roasted malts. Long bitter finish of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malts.

On-tap in Copenhagen. Overall, a very good Irish stout and a nice change of pace for what used to be dominated by a single brewery. Highly recommend.
