This stout has a robust flavour with a ful bodied and smooth mouth feel. The roast flavours lead to a dry espresso like finish. A generous addition of fuggles hops lead to a tart bitterness which mingles with the roast espresso flavours on the tongue.

Black with ruby edges and a thick, creamy tan head. Nice, roasty nose. Not sweet. Flavor has notes of roasted malt, some chocolate, coffee, a moderate hop presence and some charcoal. Somewhat odd metallic cardboardy taste just before the bitter, roasty finish. Medium to light body, smooth texture and moderate carbonation. OK.

Pours a deep dark brown with the perfect amount of foamy tan head. Aroma is a little thin, sweet, dry coffee, and slight dark chocolate. Flavor is malty and sweet, slightly espressoish, and a dry finish. Overall, not too shabby.

330 ml bottle, BBD Jan 06. Gigantic rocky meringue gray-brown head lasts forever, topping an oily blackness....chocolate, licorice, espresso struggle to be felt in the faint aroma, pleasant but too weak....body is quite dry, mostly coffee-bitter, faint whispers of dark chocolate, roasty and rather harsh at the finish. Not at all bad but nothing to make an effort for.

Opaque black hue, with a creamy tan-colored foamy head, with a sweet cacao, roasted malt, dark coffee aromaa follow through on a medium-bodied palate, with burnt malt, dark malt, coffee, burnt toasts, leading to a dry bitterness finish.

Pours dark ruby with a lasting tan head. Slightly smoked (bacon?) roasted malt nose not a lot of chocolate or coffee. Not overly dominating in mouth, with some very roasted burnt cereal with some chocolate. Finish is dryish with more burntness. Not bad, but not one of the best stout

Robe brune foncée surmontée d’une mousse beige-grise généreuse et en dentelle. Arômes de souffre et de torréifié. Carton en bouche. Houblon amertume bien présent.

12oz. bottle. Brown body with a small tan head. Roasted nose with coffee. Taste was typical, and a bit of smoke. Sweet. Dry finish, light on the mouth feel.

Bottled. Nice tan head with good retention. Fruity, roasted with hints of smoked bacon. The flavor is stunningly complex for such a low alcohol beer with caramel, roasted malt and long peasant bitterness. Excellent :-)
